Purpose Statement

Provide Quality Engineering support to manufacturing, helping to ensure delivery of highest quality product to the customer. Provide Quality Engineering support to product development teams, helping to ensure development of highest quality new products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identifies manufacturing process defects (scrap, non‑conforming material, customer complaints) by dispositioning non‑conforming material, identifying primary root causes, and suggesting corrective and preventive actions. May query and bound data to support basic product stops.
  • Assists in development of product quality plans, specifications, quality plans, risk analyses, and FMEAs with product development teams.
  • Learns to use process‑monitoring systems, identifying critical steps and applying basic methods to reduce variation.
  • Supports product/process improvement by gathering quality metric data and assisting in analysis.
  • Develops skill with quality tools and training materials.
  • Participates in validation activities (input, protocol/report writing, execution management).
  • Participates in corrective and preventive action activity.
  • Participates in Field Discrepancy Notification (FDN) investigations.

Education & Job Skills

1. Education / Experience

  • NFQ Level 7 (full credits) qualification in a relevant discipline.

  • 2+ years related work experience or equivalent combination.

2. Technical / Business Knowledge

  • Working technical knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • General understanding of business unit/group function.

  • Work performed in a quality system environment; inadequate performance may result in regulatory noncompliance.

3. Cognitive Skills

  • Works on moderately scoped problems requiring analysis of identifiable factors.

  • Exercises judgment within defined procedures.

  • Broad knowledge of technical alternatives and their system impact.

4. Influence / Leadership

  • Cultivates internal networks; begins developing external networks.

  • May lead moderate‑scope project teams.

  • Provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced staff.

  • Influence at peer level and occasionally first‑level management.

5. Planning / Organisation

  • Plans and prioritises own daily work to meet schedule.

  • Exercises authority and judgment within defined limits.

  • Errors may delay schedules or require additional resources.

  • General supervision; trains new Quality Engineers.
