What is the role?
Strategic and results-driven, the Senior Buyer leads high-stakes supplier negotiations, ensuring optimal value, terms, and long-term partnerships. Leads the relationship with their suppliers, manages supply orders, and monitors inventory levels. The Senior Buyer participates in project teams to coordinate related supplier activities. A key role in the Procurement department, the Senior Buyer has excellent organizational skills, ability to balance immediate/ long term priorities and exceptional multitasking skills with a strong drive to improve existing processes and systems. A skilled communicator and negotiator with a proven track record of delivering cost savings, contract advantages, and supplier management.
What are the key responsibilities?
Category Management
• Lead and optimise the procurement and supply of defined categories to ensure alignment with business objectives, identifying opportunities for savings and value creation, whilst mitigating risks and challenges.
• Lead Business Reviews with Suppliers including assessment of suppliers service level and performance.
Business Strategies
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through negotiation, redesign, bundling, and process improvements.
• Support product development and innovation through early supplier engagement and joint value creation.
• Ensure competitive pricing, optimal terms & conditions, and service-level agreements are achieved in every supplier negotiation.
Contract & Agreement Management
• Draft, evaluate, and finalize commercial contracts ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.
• Lead negotiating and enforcing Suppliers Supply Contracts terms.
• Identify, qualify, and onboard key strategic suppliers through structured negotiation and due diligence.
Strategic Negotiations
• Coordinate with legal, finance, and operations to ensure favourable terms that reduce liabilities and protect business interests.
• Negotiates prices and plans savings to maximize profitability.
Supplier Strategy & Performance
• Monitor supplier performance and manage corrective action plans based on negotiated service levels and KPIs.
• Early engagement with R&D and Project Managers in NPI to ensure utilization of Supply Chain best practices to ensure best fit supplier selection in terms of capacity, risk, quality, and pricing.
• Drive long term capacity and supply plans for defined items.
• Executes Change Control related action, in line with Aerogen Quality System.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Act as the key liaison between internal customers and external vendors for defined suppliers.
• Engage with order scheduling and production planning to endure adherence to customer service level.
Risk Management & Compliance
• Identify and mitigate commercial, geopolitical, and supply chain risks.
• Ensure adherence to ethical procurement practices, regulatory guidelines, and sustainability goals.
• Conduct supplier audits and enforce anti-corruption/anti-bribery clauses as part of contracts.
Market Intelligence & Competitive Benchmarking
• Conduct regular market and commodity research to inform sourcing and negotiation strategies.
• Benchmark pricing, lead times, and contract terms against industry standards to stay competitive.
Additional Tasks
• Any other tasks or duties as assigned by management in line with business needs.
What education and experience are required?
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field. MBA or professional certifications (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of procurement experience with preferably in a multinational or complex industry/ regulated environment (Medical Devices, Pharma, Automotive)

• Self- Starter with ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities.
• Ability to manage complexity and resolve conflicts that arise from balancing multiple priorities.
• Proficiency in procurement tools and MS Office.
