The Quality, Safety & Risk Manager (QSRM) at Affidea Ireland is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the quality, safety, and risk management programme across all ROI clinics. This position provides strategic direction and leadership for quality, safety, and risk across the organisation.

The QSRM leads the Central Quality & Compliance Team, ensuring a consistent, high-quality approach to governance and compliance, while coordinating closely with local clinical teams to embed best practices and continuous improvement at site level. This role includes responsibility for risk and quality governance, development and implementation of policies and procedures, management of the Quality Management System (QMS), and ensuring compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and legislative requirements. The QSRM reports performance data to the CEO and serves as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies.

Requirements

Leadership, Governance & Quality Management

  • Lead and manage the Quality & Compliance Team, providing direction, support, and oversight.

  • Coordinate and support local clinical teams to ensure consistent implementation of quality, safety, and risk initiatives across all sites.

  • Provide leadership in risk and quality governance frameworks, ensuring robust systems are in place across the organisation.

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Lead the development, review, and implementation of policies, procedures, protocols, and guidelines, ensuring alignment with best practice and regulatory requirements.

Clinical Governance/Compliance with regulation and standards

  • Work with the Clinical Services Manager to ensure HIQA and EPA compliance is maintained in all relevant sites

  • Lead on the JCI re-accreditation programme in Affidea

  • Monitor the planning and execution of the internal audits and other necessary supplemental internal controls.

  • Develop working relationships with and provide advice, support, and assistance as indicated to leadership and clinical teams with respect to implementation of QSRP

  • Provide leadership and direction pertaining to quality ,data compliance ,risk management, clinical governance and health & safety across the company.

Complaints Management

  • Develop and lead the complaints management process, ensure all complaints are identified, responded to and investigated. Put in place systems to ensure key learnings are identified and steps to prevent reoccurrence.

  • Analyse customer feedback and advise the senior management team on recommendations to formulate/modify processes /standards as necessary to improve

Audit

  • Ensure audits and data collection processes are established and implemented

  • Ensure a full cycle of Clinical audit is in place as per HIQA guidelines

  • Analyse and summarise performance improvement data and report on findings and outcomes to the CEO on a regular basis

  • Ensure data is validated in compliance with JCI QPS standards

  • Ensure relevant departmental staff are appropriately trained for data collection and validation

Risk Management

  • Lead the organisation’s risk management framework, including risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and reporting.

  • Maintain and oversee risk registers across all sites.

  • Promote a proactive risk culture and support teams in managing operational and clinical risks.

Health & Safety Standards

  •  Working with the HR and Operations teams ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety standards in the Republic of Ireland

  • Support the clinic managers in implementing measures to ensure HSE compliance in their clinics and across the organisation.

  • Support the clinic managers to ensure all staff complete all required Health & Safety Training

Key relationships

  • Member of the Senior Management Team

  • Works closely with the Operations & Clinic Managers on a day-to-day basis

  • Collaborates with Medical, Clinical, IT, HR, Legal, Audit, and Operations teams

  • Engages with central Group Quality Team and international Affidea teams

  • Partners with clinic-based clinical teams and Medical Advisory Board to ensure consistent standards

  • Acts as main liaison with regulators and external bodies

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree level qualification, ideally in quality & risk management /health management

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role

  • Fluent English is a must ( Oral & Written )

  • Project management qualification ( desirable)

Demonstrable experience in:

  • Risk and quality governance frameworks

  • Quality Management System (QMS) implementation and management

  • Development of policies and procedures

  • Accreditation processes (e.g. JCI / CHKS /ISO)

  • Experience operating at or engaging with senior management level

  • Proven track record in managing regulatory compliance and inspections

  • Strong experience working with legislative and governing bodies

  • Full driver’s license and ability to travel. This role involves regular travel to our clinics across the country.

  • Good analytical, problem-solving skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • High level of flexibility and outstanding stress management

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct and influence people

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Strong planning, time management and organizational abilities

  • Be self-motivated with a desire to drive the highest quality standards and build a quality orientated culture.
