Description

Location/Office Policy:  Central Park, Dublin 18 - Hybrid Working (3 days per week in the office)

  • Do you want to be recognised as a senior technical authority, working hands‑on with cloud, data and security teams to enable modern analytics and AI use cases?
  • Are you excited by solving real‑world platform challenges at scale—performance, cost, security and resilience—rather than just building pipelines?

What is the Role:

The Data Platforms team is responsible for the design, delivery and support of enterprise-scale data platforms that underpin critical business, regulatory and analytical capabilities across the bank. These platforms support key functions including Finance, Risk, HR and Data and Analytics.

As a Senior Technical Analyst you will play a key role in the ownership, administration, optimisation and support of data platforms. You will work closely with engineering, architecture, security and delivery teams to ensure platforms are secure, resilient, performant and compliant.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Independently solve complex platform requirements, including cross‑IT technical components spanning Databricks, Azure infrastructure, networking, identity and security. Use judgement to challenge requirements and propose achievable, secure and scalable solutions.

  • Administer and optimise the Databricks platform, including workspace configuration, cluster and policy management, access controls, secrets management, monitoring, cost optimisation and performance tuning across multiple environments.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration with team members (internal or external), senior stakeholders and subject matter experts to translate complex business needs into a clear functional design. Supporting solution design across IT areas as required to establish the most appropriate and fit for purpose solution to achieve the outcome.
  • Lead operational excellence, including platform monitoring, incident and problem management, root cause analysis, capacity planning and continuous improvement of platform reliability and resilience.

  • Ensure compliance with enterprise governance and regulatory requirements, including security standards, data protection, auditability and operational resilience expectations.

  • Champion a Customer First culture in support of AIB’s Purpose, strategic ambition and Brand Values, ensuring the data platform enables reliable, high‑quality data services and good customer outcomes.

What you Will Bring:

  • 5+ years’ technical experience supporting cloud based data or analytics platforms, with hands on experience administering Databricks on Azure.

  • Strong experience across:
    • Databricks workspace, cluster and security administration
    • Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2)
    • Azure networking, identity and security (e.g. VNets, private endpoints, Entra ID / RBAC)
    • Platform monitoring, cost management and performance optimisation
  • Databricks Platform Administration and / or Databricks Azure Platform Architect certification (preferred).
Azure fundamentals and / or Azure Administration Associate (desirable)

  • Experience with other enterprise data and analytics technologies an advantage (e.g. Teradata, SAS, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric).

  • Proven track record in design and delivery of technical solutions to complex business needs, and in proposing the resolution of issues for technical deliveries.
  • Strong understanding of non‑functional requirements such as security, resilience, scalability and operational supportability.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

  • Strong interpersonal skills including collaboration, facilitation and negotiation skills.
