Amazon Web Services is hiring a manager to lead Amazon's primary network remediation automation services. This team owns systems that intelligently diagnose, root cause and mitigate impact on the Amazon Network, before orchestrating remediation actions and returning capacity to service to maximise network redundancy.

As a manager of this team, you lead a group of skilled engineers and scientists to deliver novel solutions to enable successful automation for the worlds largest network. You will own strategic planning for your team and products, working with stakeholders and partners to deliver the best in class network availability outcomes for AWS customers.

You will led the project planning and delivery for your team and products, ensuring that the right features and delivered at the right time, leveraging a suite of in house tools and processes to help.

Lastly a Software Development Manager in the network Monitoring and Remediation team, will present their product strategy and performance KPIs to AWS Networking leadership, utilising Amazon's writing and deep dive culture to focus to provide executive level reporting that enables critical decision making.

Key job responsibilities
Develop a team of high performing engineers and scientists to continuing growing their skills and therefore their capability to deliver for our customers.
Own the strategy and roadmap for your teams products.
Work efficiently with partners to deliver results that delight AWS network customers. Utilise Amazon's working backwards culture to ensure that you deliver the right product features at the right time.
Ensure the right priority is given to the team and products operational excellence, through the establishment and use of mechanisms like KPIs and business reviews.
Ensure your team has a strong development process that enables consistent delivery over time.

A day in the life
A manager in the Remediation Automation team in AWS Networking, works with their team and partners on a daily basis, to ensure project delivery is on track and that systems performance is delivering the right customer outcomes. A manager in the team will have regular 1:1 meetings with the direct reports and other stakeholders across the organisation. Given the direct relationship between the success of these systems and the customer experience using the AWS Network, a manager in the Remediation team will have consistent access to Networking leadership and can leverage metrics to demonstrate areas of investment and also the results of investment in the products.

About the team
The Remediation team consists of Software & System Development engineers, along with an Applied Scientist function. The team produce high quality data and use that data to drive decisions, both strategic and tactical. The team has a mixture of tenure, enabling more senior engineers the opportunity to mentor junior engineers into the next generation of leaders in the space.

Basic Qualifications

- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience in engineering team management
- Experience in engineering
- Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
