Senior Digital Design Engineer for FPGA

The Digital Business Unit (DBU) within ADI currently develops world-class, leading-edge heterogenous processors including DSP and neural engine blocks to facilitate data analysis at the edge of the internet close to the sensors. Position Overview:

The Digital Business Unit is currently looking for a Senior Design Engineer for digital design with a focus on FPGA. The candidate will work within a team of engineers to prototype ADIs latest ASICs on state-of-the-art FPGA platforms and to maintain the hardware making this prototype available to the wider project team. Selected candidate will join Analog Devices at the Limerick office.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Work within a team to help implement a fully functional prototype, taking RTL designs provided by design team on to state-of-the-art FPGA platforms
  • Provide the prototype to other teams within ADI (software, evaluation, etc.), maintain the prototype for general usage and give support.
  • Assist / drive debugging efforts.
  • Extend the core digital FPGA prototype with external modules such as debug ports or analog components.
  • Where appropriate, collaborate with global cross-functional teams, including Design, Design Verification (DV) and Software teams.
  • Good knowledge of digital logic design principles.
    Good working knowledge of circuit theory, in particular digital design.
  • Knowledge of industry standard bus protocols such as AHB, AXI, I2C, SPI etc. is desirable.
  • Good working knowledge on RTL coding and design debugging
  • Previous exposure to state-of-the-art FPGA implementation flows including synthesis, P&R and timing analysis on tools such as Synplify®, Vivado®, Quartus® is advantageous
  • Good working knowledge on some programming language (C, C++, C# or similar) is required.
  • Expertise in digital simulation is desirable
  • Knowledge of ARM and/or RISC-V processor subsystem architectures is advantageous
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with international teams (Europe, India, US, Canada)

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS/BE in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Computer Engineering with some industry experience
  • MSC / PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.

  • Strong presentation and technical documentation skills.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new skills such as software scripting and computer networking.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with aggressive schedules.
  • Self-motivated, thorough, autonomous, and driven to continually improve.
