The Cork Reliability Engineering team is seeking a reliability engineering technician with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical, electronics, or electrical systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the executing environmental, mechanical, and functional tests to ensure the durability of Apple’s products. This role requires a versatile skill set, blending various aspects of computers, electrical, and mechanical systems knowledge.
The role involves executing environmental, mechanical, and functional tests to ensure the durability of Apple’s products within multiple reliability labs. Flexibility in working hours: Shifts patterns may change depending on business needs. Flexibility to adapt is essential for ensuring operational continuity. Management of issues out of hours may be required. The types of routine tasks that you will be responsible for are as follows: - Test Execution: Setting up and conducting various reliability tests including mechanical and environmental tests. This also includes test unit inspections to verify the cosmetic quality and functional requirements of the tested products meet Apple’s stringent quality standards. - Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all tests conducted, unit inspections, abnormalities and failures observed. Creation and update of standard operating procedures (SOPs).  - Equipment Preventative Maintenance: Conducting maintenance and calibration activities for reliability (environmental and mechanical) test and product test equipment including mechanical, electrical, water, and IT / software system related checks. This includes improving/utilsing remote monitoring equipment, equipment tracking in CMMS, spare parts management, and external equipment & facilities vendor management. - Corrective Maintenance: React quickly to issues. Provide first level triage to diagnose and repair issues across test and inspection equipment, including equipment malfunctions, electronic faults, system connectivity problems, and gas / water supply issues. Communicate clearly with reliability engineers, external vendors, and internal test & manufacturing teams. - Equipment readiness: Install, configure, and validate test equipment & infrastructure, including chambers, actuators, gas and water piping, HVAC, PLCs, vision systems, computers & user interfaces, control networks, and communication systems. Work with test, reliability, manufacturing teams to understand reliability test requirements, equipment requirements and operations, and software. Conduct characterization, tuning, and acceptance testing of reliability test equipment for program readiness.  - Training: Provide training to operators, giving training and approval of the standard test methods, data recording tools and formats for operators conducting manual testing and inspections. Able to provide guidance, correcting errors in method and ensuring repeatability and accuracy - Safety and Compliance: Adhere to company-specific guidelines and industry standards, ensuring compliance with mechanical, electronic, and electrical safety regulations. Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to maintain a safe working environment and protect the quality of our products.
  • Experienced technician or time-served tradesperson with expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: Reliability Engineering or Reliability Testing, Environmental Testing, Mechanical Test Systems / Engineering, Electrical Test Systems / Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in equipment management including installation and maintenance. Experience troubleshooting issues in environmental, mechanical, electrical and/or electromechanical systems. Ability to understand mechanical and electrical circuit drawings and test equipment specifications. Ability to use electrical diagnostics and computer software to assess, monitor, document and communicate issues and status of equipment.
  • Proven track record of resourcefulness in fault isolation techniques, root cause analysis, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Proactive individual who can work closely with technicians, engineers, and tradespersons to ensure efficient operation. Ability to work in a fast paced team environment. Good verbal and written communication with internal customers, internal partner teams, and external vendors.
  • High standard for quality of work.
  • Demonstrated experience of regularly conducting mechanical or reliability testing.
  • Experience with equipment installations and lab or factory operations management, including facilities requirements.
  • Experience with 5S, Lean activities.
  • Experience of successful operations in a small team juggling multiple responsibilities.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems, tracking calibrations, maintenance conducted and issues observed. Experience with spares management and optimization.
