This is a postdoctoral position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to significant climate resilience research project ProCoast. ProCoast project is a Horizon Europe funded initiative focused on proactive climate adaptation through behavioural transformation, systems thinking, governance innovation, and community resilience. The project aims to support the development of integrated climate adaptation pathways and transformative solutions for vulnerable regions and communities through stakeholder engagement, living labs, and digital innovation. The postdoctoral researcher will also contribute to ongoing climate resilience and environmental monitoring activities linked to coastal resilience, ecosystem-based adaptation, and Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), building upon ATU Sligo’s strong research portfolio in climate adaptation, remote sensing, GIS, and environmental systems management.
The Research Scientist (Post-Doctoral Researcher) will contribute to the development of climate adaptation frameworks, environmental assessment methodologies, spatial and climate data analysis, and stakeholder-oriented research outputs. The role will involve a combination of data analysis, GIS and remote sensing applications, research coordination, scientific dissemination, and stakeholder engagement. The Research Scientist (Post-Doctoral Researcher) will play a key role in both projects, contributing to the development of climate adaptation policies, conducting environmental monitoring, implementing remote sensing solutions, and providing scientific leadership for the research teams. This role will involve a combination of field-based work, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and research dissemination.
The Research Scientist (Post-Doctoral Researcher) will be in charge of the following Tasks:
