We are recruiting an Actuarial Trainee (graduate or part qualified) to join our AXA Ireland Actuarial Function Team. This is an exciting opportunity to join an interesting team in a market leading insurer. The department has the responsibility for Reserving, Reinsurance and Financial Reporting deliveries for both P&C and Health business. This role is primarily focussed on P&C Reinsurance with exposure to the other areas. You'll work majority of your week away from home. Away from home means either attendance at one of our office locations, visiting clients or attending industry events. What You’ll be doing: Working within the Actuarial Function you will provide support in meeting our reinsurance needs and regulatory reporting requirements, as well as supporting new initiatives across AXA. You will work in a team of actuaries and trainee actuaries, working closely with colleagues in Underwriting, Pricing, Claims, Finance and AXA Group. Main responsibilities will include: Supporting all aspects of our reinsurance requirements including renewal of agreements and catastrophe modelling. Assisting in regulatory reporting and group financial reporting. Carrying out defined processes under the guidance of more senior members of the team. Interacting with other teams to understand their needs and requirements and developing your knowledge of the business. Analysing data sets and presenting analysis to audiences with varying technical knowledge. Working collaboratively across teams, continuously improving processes. About You What we’re looking for: A degree with curriculum in the following areas: Actuarial, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics is essential. Experience in the following areas is a plus, but not required: Non-life insurance Actuarial Function/Reinsurance/Reserving Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint Use of SAS and R for data manipulation and processing. Autonomous, innovative, pragmatic. High standard of written & oral communication in English. Communicate clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audience. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines. Able to apply analytical problem solving, make recommendations, and implement improvements continuously in a dynamic environment. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team. Team worker with responsibility & accountability for their own work. Demonstrate an appetite for learning new techniques, languages, or tools. Candidates would be supported in pursuing actuarial qualifications. As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorized to work in Ireland.
