BROTHERS OF CHARITY SERVICES IRELAND – SOUTHERN REGION
The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region is a major voluntary organisation, which provides age related residential, educational and day services for people with intellectual disabilities, autism and communication disorders throughout the Cork and Kerry area.

Senior Occupational Therapist Ref: 64/2025
Permanent Full-Time (35 hours per week)
Location: Children’s Disability Network 1 - North Kerry
Based in Listowel with an outreach service to families in Castleisland and Farranfore area.
JOB SUMMARY
This post also involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team providing supports to children and young adults, 0-18yrs and their families. This will include children with Intellectual, Physical, Sensory disability, Autism and children at risk of or query developmental delay; where their needs require the support of an interdisciplinary team. These teams are under the national model of service provision “Progressing Disability Services for Children and Young People” lead by the HSE. The successful candidate will be employed by the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland.
This post is in North Kerry: Children’s Disability Network Team 1 (CDNT) is based in Listowel.
Assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions are provided in the context of an interdisciplinary team. The CDNT aims to maximise the child/ young adult’s full potential and works within the context of the family and community, empowering and supporting parents/care givers and family members.
The Network 1 North Kerry team is based in Listowel with outreach service to families in Castleisland and Farranfore area
The Candidate:
- Statutory Registration, Professional Qualification, Experience etc.
- Candidates for appointment must:
- Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND
- Candidates must have three years full-time (or aggregate of three years) post qualification clinical experience. AND
- Minimum of two years full time (or an aggregate of two years) experience of working with children & young adults 0-18 years is essential. This ideally would include intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or mental health and Autism. AND
- Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office AND
- Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Occupational Therapist Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
- Annual registration
- Practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU. AND
- Confirm annual registration with CORU to the Brothers of Charity Services Ireland – Southern Region by way of annual Safety Assurance CertificateHealth
- Candidates for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
- Character
- Candidates for and any person holding the office must be of good character
- Experience
- Experience of working with children & young adults 0-18 years is essential. This ideally would include intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or mental health and Autism.
- Experience of working in partnership with families is desirable.
- Ability to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team and other agencies is essential.
- Experience of carrying out assessments with children & young adults 0-18 with complex needs within the scope of the OT role and interdisciplinary team working is desirable.
- Experience working with complex physical disabilities in the areas of seating and postural management, upper limb function and assistive technology is desirable.
- Experience of developing and coordinating individual family service plans (IFSPs) or equivalent in line with relevant policies and procedures would be beneficial.
- Experience of using autism diagnostic assessments such as the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS) as part of a multi-disciplinary team would be beneficial.
- Demonstrate a command of the English language so as to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role
- Candidates must possess the requisite clinical and administrative capabilities to fulfil the functions of the role.
- Driving Licence: Have a full driving licence which qualifies you to drive on Irish Roads with means of transport is essential
Salary Scale: €63,912 - €75,254 per annum (1/8/25 DOH Consolidated Scales) and pro-rata for part-time role
Reporting to: Children’s Disability Network Manager on operational matters. Clinical governance and supervision will be provided by the Lead Agency Head of Discipline.
