Business Development Executive 

The Business Development Executive sits within the Strategic Partnerships team in the CIO function and supports the delivery of Cairn’s B2B and B2G growth objectives.The role contributes to partnership activity across state, institutional and strategic customers, supporting commercial analysis, coordination and stakeholder engagement across the partnership lifecycle. The Business Development Executive works closely with colleagues across Investment, Finance, Construction and Legal to support informed decision‑making and effective delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management of relationships with B2B and B2G partners, including state bodies, institutional customers and strategic counterparties.
  • Assist in the preparation of commercial materials to support partnership discussions, including briefing papers, presentations, commercial summaries and internal approvals.
  • Support the coordination of partnership activity across the business, ensuring alignment between Strategic Partnerships, Investment, Finance, Construction and Legal.
  • Track partnership activity, actions and milestones, maintaining clear records to support delivery and reporting.
  • Support the assessment of partnership opportunities through the collation and analysis of market, policy, customer and commercial information.
  • Assist in the preparation of inputs for internal governance forums, including SMT and Executive discussions.
  • Participate in internal meetings and forums to develop understanding of Cairn’s operating model, development pipeline and strategic priorities.
  • Support the preparation of regular updates on partnership activity, risks and dependencies for senior stakeholders.
  • Contribute to ad‑hoc project work and analysis aligned to the evolving needs of the Strategic Partnerships team.
  • Build effective working relationships across the CIO function and wider business to support collaboration and delivery.

Role Requirements

  • Experience or demonstrated interest in business development, partnerships, commercial strategy, investment or a related discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise and well‑structured materials.
  • Commercial awareness and an interest in partnership‑led growth and value creation.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
  • Analytical capability and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and functions in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable taking ownership of defined tasks and outputs.

The Candidate

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working in real estate with a Property Economics, Property Development, Commercial Agency, or Estate Management background
  • Commercial valuation and / or agency experience is a distinct advantage
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills required
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills
  • Strong problem solving and attention to detail
  • Excellent working knowledge of latest market norms, end user and Investor requirements
  • An ability to achieve demanding time and quality targets
  • The ability to work independently using their own initiative
