Role Purpose
For over 50 years, Cornmarket has looked after the needs of Public Sector employees, their families, and other affinity groups. As the largest Insurance Broker in the Group Protection space in Ireland, we are well positioned to continue growing and serving even more groups and individuals.
This newly created role reflects our continued growth. The primary purpose of this role is to manage and drive growth and profitability within emerging and expanding areas of the business. You will ensure strong trading relationships for a portfolio of partners to support the achievement of business objectives.
The successful candidate will help deliver on current projects and support the development of senior client relationship management and new growth opportunities, including insurance renewal tenders, insurer negotiations, and. This is a client‑focused position requiring collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver the best possible outcomes and service excellence.
Working closely with the Scheme Review team, the role holder will support our busy and highly successful Client Services team, bringing strong commercial acumen to contribute to business growth.

Given the client‑facing nature of the role, there will be a requirement to travel and attend meetings, conferences, and events outside normal business hours.
Accountabilities of the Role
Help shape our growth strategy, foster collective success, generate relationships with new partners, and represent the team in client‑facing activities including opportunities, growth segments, and prospect meetings.
Build deep, trusted relationships with key partners and collaborate effectively across the business.
Support independent brokering activities by crafting strategies to quantify, mitigate, and transfer risk, leveraging public sector expertise and market insights.
Develop an understanding of each client's business and culture; manage the flow of queries from new partners; set and manage expectations; oversee SLAs; and act as an escalation point for complex service issues.
Facilitate and participate in committee meetings, HQ events, conferences, and seminars. This will require flexibility in working hours. The team maintains a strong work‑life balance built on mutual trust and understanding.
Participate in projects and support the onboarding of new partners or schemes.
Manage communication and the collation of information relating to Scheme updates and service reviews to demonstrate Cornmarket’s value — attention to detail is essential.
Foster strong insurer relationships by influencing, de‑escalating issues, and driving quick and decisive resolutions with a strong client focus.
Act as the voice of our partners internally across departments to ensure smooth Scheme transitions and successful delivery of client‑related projects.
Draw on the breadth and depth of expertise across the organisation, working collaboratively with Life Sales, Finance, Marketing, the PMO, GI, Compliance, Risk, Life, and Operations.
Collaborate with the Wellbeing and Propositions team to review, optimise, and differentiate our service offering — ensuring competitiveness and deeper integration with partner priorities, including bespoke products, wellbeing programmes, and rewards strategies.
Comply with all relevant risk control and regulatory requirements.
Maintain strong commercial awareness, particularly regarding changes in the life, pension, and general insurance sectors, as well as relevant products and services.
Skills, Experience and Behavioural Competencies Required
Ideally a third‑level qualification in any discipline.
QFA or CIP qualification.
Experience managing and developing key client relationships (desirable).
Significant experience engaging with insurers and producing reports (desirable).
Proven ability to build strong relationships with new clients.
Experience identifying client needs and taking initiative to exceed expectations.
Understanding of the needs and challenges of trade unions and public sector employers.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the life, pension, and general insurance industry, especially the broker market.
Strong understanding of the public sector market.
Ability to meet challenging deadlines and targets.
Strong self‑motivation, personal drive, energy, and persistence.
High accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong presentation skills with experience engaging senior external stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, problem‑solve, and lead issues through to resolution.
Excellent stakeholder management skills.
