JOB PURPOSE
The Employment Tax Advisory Services Department is actively seeking an ambitious Assistant Manager. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a recently qualified professional to broaden their technical, advisory and client facing skills within a busy, dynamic and growing tax department. The job holder will work with senior team members across the practice to deliver high quality and commercially focussed Employment Tax advisory services and develop solutions for clients across a wide variety of employment tax areas including global mobility, executive reward, Revenue interventions, social security and other aspects of employment tax and global mobility.

The Assistant Manager will take ownership of defined workstreams and support the timely delivery of wider Employment Tax consulting assignments. The role involves regular collaboration with partners, directors and senior managers, offering excellent career development opportunities through structured coaching and training in employment tax and global mobility.
KEY RESULT AREAS
- Support project management and delivery of a broad cross sector of clients and assignment types with guidance from senior team members.
- Assist with assignment scheduling, planning, staffing and structure with appropriate support and guidance.
- Contribute to assignments (with a view to becoming the team lead) and support the planning and staffing requirements as required. Participate in staff briefings on the specific tasks and goals of each assignment.
- Assist when required with tenders and/or fee quotes.
- Support (or as appropriate, lead) the provision of advice to clients on tax planning opportunities and assist with a variety of consultancy projects with appropriate guidance and support.
- Handle multiple tax assignments concurrently and ensure the most effective and efficient use of time and resources at all times. Seek guidance from immediate director/senior manager as required.
- Proactively liaise and build effective working relationships with firm staff in all disciplines (Audit, Company Secretarial etc.) to facilitate and support the Employment Tax Advisory Services Department.
- Support client relationships. Contact, liaise and foster business relationships that develops the client portfolio further.
- Contribute to the delivery of assignments to a high standard of quality (including supported/documented rationales), while adhering to allotted timescales, budgets and resource allocation.
- Support new business development initiatives and contribute to the growth of the firm.
- Be fully conversant with and understand the Firm's policies, procedures and regulations.
- Participate in day-to-day supervision activities, engage with training needs and on-the-job training opportunities. Receive mentoring from senior staff and fully participate in all Performance Management initiatives as required.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- A qualification as a Tax Consultant (AITI CTA) is highly desirable.
- Alternatively, Accountant qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) is similarly desirable
- PQE 0-2 years (suitable for a recently qualified candidate)
- Strong experience in employment tax including global mobility planning, employment tax advisory services and compliance
- Excellent written communication skills with demonstrated experience in preparing tax advisory reports, client correspondence, and technical documentation
- Proven ability to explain complex tax matters clearly in writing to clients and colleagues
- Strong technical competence in income tax with desire to develop expertise in employment tax and global mobility
- Proven ability to work on a diverse range of clients across multiple sectors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks with appropriate support
