The Role
We are seeking an Associate SIM Engineer who is eager to learn and develop their expertise in SIM and eSIM technologies. You will join a dynamic SIM Engineering team, contributing to the delivery of Cubic solutions in the SIM/eSIM Remote SIM Provisioning technology domain.
The Associate SIM Engineer will assist with building connectivity solutions, managing SIM/eSIM card logistics and fulfilment, and supporting our global customer base. You will have the opportunity to gain experience with the latest technologies, including the evolution of eSIM and new connectivity standards.
Responsibilities
Assist in the design, validation and maintenance of electrical profiles for SIM and eSIM products
Support the design and implementation of Java Card applets for SIM/eSIM services, following 3GPP, ETSI, and GSMA standards
Help write and update technical documentation, such as applet specifications and test plans
Collaborate with cross-functional teams across mobile core networks, security, and device vendors
Support the development, testing, and integration of SIM-based applications and tools
Learn to use smart card test & trace tools
Participate in peer reviews and team meetings

Required Skills & Experience
Third level qualification in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline (or final year student/recent graduate)
Up to 2 years of relevant experience, preferably within telecoms technology or similar sectors
Familiarity with SIM/eSIM concepts and protocols (APDU, ISO 7816) is a plus
Awareness of 3GPP, ETSI, or GSMA standards
Basic understanding of Java, Java Card, or scripting languages
Willingness to learn about mobile network elements and smart card technologies
Quality-focused, self-motivated, with analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective written and verbal communication
Desirable
Experience using tools like Git, Postman, or smart card test tools (e.g., Comprion) is a bonus
Interest in Kanban/Agile methodologies
