The Role
We are looking for a SIM Engineer Level I with hands-on experience in SIM and eSIM technologies. You will join a dynamic SIM Engineering team and play a key role in delivering Cubic³ solutions within the evolving SIM/eSIM Remote SIM Provisioning technology domain.
The SIM Engineer Level I will contribute to building advanced connectivity solutions, managing SIM/eSIM card logistics and fulfilment, and providing technical support to our global customers. You will work directly with the latest developments in eSIM and emerging connectivity standards.
Responsibilities
Design, validate, and maintain electrical and logical profiles for SIM and eSIM products
Develop and implement Java Card applets for SIM/eSIM services, ensuring compliance with 3GPP, ETSI, and GSMA standards
Create and update technical documentation (e.g., applet specifications, test plans)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams spanning mobile core networks, security, and device vendors
Support the development, testing, and integration of SIM-based applications and tools
Utilize smart card test and trace tools to ensure quality and performance
Participate in technical reviews, troubleshooting, and team meetings

Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related discipline
3+ years of relevant experience in telecoms technology, connectivity, or related sectors
Proven experience with SIM/eSIM technologies and protocols (APDU, ISO 7816)
Knowledge of 3GPP, ETSI, and GSMA standards
Experience with Java, Java Card, or scripting languages
Familiarity with mobile network elements and smart card technologies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; quality-focused and self-motivated
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
Experience with Git, Postman, or smart card test tools (e.g., Comprion)
Exposure to Kanban/Agile methodologies
