Director of Nursing-Join our Leadership Team


Are you an experienced nurse leader looking for an opportunity to lead a team, influence the lived experience making a meaningful difference in their lives. 

At Curam Care Homes, we are seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing / Person in Charge to lead our team at Curam Care Home Carrigaline. 


This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive nursing home group where quality of care and quality of life for our residents are at the heart of everything we do. The successful candidate will lead the clinical and operational management of the home, creating an environment where residents receive safe, high-quality, individualised and person-centred care.


You will be supported by an experienced Assistant Director of Nursing, Clinical Nurse Managers, Department Heads and the wider Curam Care Homes Support Office team, working together to deliver the highest standards of care and support continuous improvement across the home. 


Role & Responsibilities 

As Director of Nursing, you will provide strategic, clinical and operational leadership for the home and have overall responsibility for ensuring that residents receive high-quality, safe and person-centred care.


You will create a positive culture where residents, families and employees feel valued and where employees are encouraged and supported to develop professionally.


The role will include:

• Providing strong clinical and professional leadership across the home.

• Promoting a resident-first culture, ensuring residents' individual needs, choices, preferences and quality of life remain central to care delivery.

• Leading the home's clinical governance, quality and risk management arrangements.

• Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, HIQA requirements, organisational policies and professional standards.

• Maintaining oversight of care planning, clinical documentation and the ongoing assessment and review of residents' needs.

• Leading continuous quality improvement through audits, quality initiatives, action plans and monitoring of outcomes.

• Overseeing the management, investigation and learning arising from incidents, complaints and other quality or safety concerns.

• Leading and developing the nursing and wider care team, promoting accountability, engagement and a positive workplace culture.

• Supporting recruitment, induction, performance management, professional development and succession planning within the home.

• Ensuring residents and their families are listened to, informed and actively involved in decisions regarding their care and the life of the home.

• Maintaining effective financial and operational oversight, including understanding and managing the home's budget and resources.

• Working collaboratively with residents, families, employees, healthcare professionals, HIQA and other relevant external stakeholders.


Key Requirements 

The successful candidate will have:

Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). 

A minimum of three years' Director of Nursing / Person in Charge experience. 

A post-registration management qualification in health or a related field or commitment to complete within 3 years. . 

Demonstrable experience in strategic and clinical leadership. 

Strong knowledge and understanding of HIQA standards, regulations, procedures and guidelines. 

Strong people-management and leadership skills. 

Excellent communication, organisational and decision-making skills. 

Strong financial, budgetary and administrative capability.
