Job Description

The Operations Technical team is responsible for review of Project documentation ensuring regulatory compliance, safety standards are maintained at the highest levels and driving efficiency to maintain capacity during project delivery. 

This role will take responsibility for the Aerodrome to focus on leading and supporting the team to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions to enable safe and efficient airside operations on existing constrained infrastructure as traffic grows, ensuring that existing infrastructure is fit for purpose to meet business demands by working closely with internal and external stakeholders as required.

This role will also be a key leader and voice in the implementation of plans to enable growth at Dublin Airport, working close with the CIP team to ensure the facilitation and implementation of new infrastructure for DUB. This role will be required to proactively support Asset Management maintenance on the Aerodrome.

A key focus will be to ensure processes are in place to ensure safety improvements and initiatives are considered as well as ensuring operational compliance, while safeguarding the SMS. The successful applicant will work in a cross functional capacity with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Lead

Management and support of the Operations Technical team to ensure the provision and implementation of innovative design solutions to overcome safety and capacity challenges, always with a better, faster and optimal solution approach to minimise operational impacts. 

Review 

  • Review all designs prepared by Infrastructure on behalf of Operations, ensuring that the designs are compliant and meet the needs of the operation.  This review will be completed in coordination with both Capital Development and Infrastructure Interface Management. 
  • Review temporary designs and phasing to support delivery of infrastructure projects and support in drafting associated documentation to ensure the airfield can continue to operate safely
  • Collaborate and review for capital projects to ensure the end product meets the business need from a safety and operational perspective
  • Review all supplements / charts and promulgated documents on behalf of Operations, working with Infrastructure prior to submission to the IAA-AIS

Identify 

  • Alternative solutions that best suits the needs of the airside operation to ensure project delivery with minimal impact, may include 
    • Phasing of projects
    • Routing options 
    • Revise proposed solutions
    • Project coordination for the full airfield
  • Opportunities for Asset Management and Infrastructure / Capital Development to consider possible synergies and possible opportunities for collaboration of required works and projects 

Planning

  • Engagement with key interfaces from an early stage in the planning of projects
  • Ensure to issue and consider all operational requirements, e.g. draft notices / pushback procedures and tech requirements 
  • Develop project plans to consider all operational requirements when bringing projects to site and for handover of the phases, for all projects and asset management works 

Represent 

  • Operations on risk assessments related to projects identified to ensure safety in design
  • Represent Operations interests at each stage along the project life cycle, providing Operations sign off at each relevant stage-gate as required by the capital development stage-gate process
  • Represent Operations at key meetings to ensure operational considerations and expertise are shared and considered 
  • Communicating within Ops teams and wider business to build awareness and transparency

Project 

  • Interface with Infrastructure, Asset Management and Safety to ensure all safety and potential risk / impacts are considered
  • Oversee the continuous improvement of the works and planning process during all stages of construction activity onsite
  • Ensure the return to operation of new assets on behalf of Operations e.g., inspecting and accepting new airfield infrastructure in a compliant safe manner
  • Co-ordinate Operations preparedness and associated stakeholder engagement with respect to either asset withdrawal or introduction

Team Development

  • Ensure a proactive approach to team engagement and knowledge sharing
  • Focus on continuous improvement initiatives to ensure best in class approach to project engagement and team collaboration 

Qualifications

  • Third level qualification in engineering or a related discipline
  • 3 years working in the airside area at an international airport or a minimum of 5 years related engineering experience
  • Experience and broad knowledge of change management principles, methodologies and best practices
  • Demonstrated strengths - leadership, planning, communication, analytical, complex problem-solving, and strong  interpersonal skills with the proven ability to collaborate, influence and to negotiate successfully.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, handle multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results that exceed expectations
  • Thorough knowledge of EASA guidance material for Aerodrome Design and strong knowledge of daa SMS desirable.
  • Demonstrates strong operational awareness and judgement
  • Knowledge of winter operations desirable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong relationship management skills with a range of stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to Airport Operations
  • Knowledge of daa procedures and MOC processes desirable
  • Ability to provide innovative or engineering design solutions 
  • Ability to develop clear strategies and capitalise on situations as they arise
  • Aircraft simulation software experience desirable
