Job Description

This appointment requires a leader who can combine deep commercial legal expertise with outstanding leadership capability, providing clear timely , and solution focussed guidance at the most senior levels of the organisation, whilst safeguarding the company’s reputation and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Influence

  • Lead the development and evolution of the Group Legal Function, ensuring alignment with daa’s commercial strategy and growth ambitions.
  • Provide thought leadership to the executive team and senior management, offering strategic guidance on legal and commercial risk mitigation.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership across a complex organisational landscape, driving key initiatives and delivering results.

     

Commercial & Corporate Advisory

  • Advise on high value commercial, corporate, and strategic matters, including international transactions, procurement, and governance issues.
  • Draft and negotiate major commercial agreements that secure optimal outcomes for daa.
  • Identify commercially driven legal solutions that support daa’s business objectives and growth trajectory.

     

Risk, Compliance & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide expert counsel on corporate, competition, compliance, and regulatory matters.
  • Oversee litigation and dispute management for the organisation.
  • Build and manage effective relationships with external counsel, both in Ireland and internationally, ensuring cost effective and high-quality legal support where required.
  • Engage with government bodies and regulatory agencies to ensure major projects meet legislative requirements

Qualifications

Experience & Expertise

  • Minimum of 10 years’ post qualification experience in corporate/commerciallaw, advising on complex matters across diverse industry sectors.
  • Significant experience leading high performing legal teams and collaborating across diverse business functions.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to balance legal risk and commercial imperatives.
  • Expert knowledge of corporate and commercial law, applied in demanding and fast paced environments.

Leadership & Personal Attributes

  • Exceptional communicator and influencer, capable of working collaboratively with cross functional stakeholders and advising at executive and Board level.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through complexity, inspire teams, and foster a collaborative, high performance culture.
  • Excellent communicator with ability to simplify complex issues and articulate risk in the context of commercial considerations
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with a proven track record of influencing effectively      to build consensus and achieve objectives
  • Adaptable, commercially minded, and comfortable working within a global organisation experiencing continuous change.
