Site Reliability Engineer (Services)

What We’re Looking For:

• Cloud Engineering - Services is dedicated to managing and supporting 3rd party tools and platforms, both managed and unmanaged, such as our Kubernetes clusters, our continuous integration and continuous deployment infrastructure like Jenkins and Github Actions, and shared unmanaged infrastructure.
• We're looking for someone with experience in modern cloud architectures, containers, CI/CD automation, observability practices, and Infrastructure-as-Code. You know how to diagnose complex production issues, optimize system performance, and design platforms that minimize operational burden. You’re comfortable working hands-on within product engineering teams—pairing with developers, advising on architectural decisions, and leading initiatives that improve reliability, scalability, security and all the other “ilities”. 
• You are an advocate for operational excellence and continuous improvement. You think in systems, measure what matters, and build guardrails rather than gates. You communicate clearly, influence without authority, and enjoy building tools, patterns, and shared services that raise the engineering bar across the organization.  
• Most importantly, you bring a collaborative mindset. You listen deeply, understand real-world constraints, and help teams adopt best practices that make their services more robust and their developers more productive.

What You Will Do: 

• Increase our cloud efficiency - Working across engineering, security, platform and others, you will seek out and eliminate cloud waste.
• Deliver value. Contribute to the Cloud Engineering - Services roadmap and help the team achieve its goals through reliable, sustainable execution.
• Collaborate across teams. Partner with peers across engineering, contribute to technical and organisational decisions, and help create an environment where teams can do their best work.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Platform Management: Strong experience in managing Kubernetes (EKS), CI/CD tools (e.g., ArgoCD, GitHub Actions), and observability platforms (e.g., Datadog).
• Automation and IaC: Proficiency in automating platform deployment and maintenance tasks (e.g., cluster upgrades, CI/CD workflows).
• Third-Party Tools: Familiarity with integrating tools like Terraform, Elasticsearch, Kafka, Cassandra, and Databricks into the broader platform.
• Reliability Engineering: Knowledge of scaling, failover, and platform reliability best practices.
• Cross-Team Collaboration: Ability to work with Embedded Teams to meet workload-specific needs.
• Collaboration and influence: Ability to build strong working relationships and partner effectively with engineers, product teams, and fellow SREs.
