What We’re Looking For
At Datavant, we value engineers who are curious, motivated, and eager to learn how software engineering principles are applied to real-world problems. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will support the development of products that power our healthcare data ecosystem while learning from experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.
This is an onsite role and will require interns to work from our Galway office throughout the internship period.
You do not need to know our full tech stack to succeed. We value problem-solving ability, willingness to learn, and strong fundamentals over prior experience with specific tools. This internship offers meaningful, hands-on work from day one and exposure to production systems at scale.
What You Need to Succeed
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Foundational knowledge of programming concepts and experience with at least one modern language such as Python or JavaScript.
- Basic understanding of web development, APIs, or databases through coursework, projects, or internships.
- Familiarity with SQL and relational databases is a plus.
- A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for working in fast-paced, team-oriented environments.
- Strong communication skills and a willingness to ask questions and learn.
What You Will Do
- Support the design and development of real production features alongside experienced engineers.
- Contribute to building scalable applications and data workflows that support healthcare data exchange.
- Learn best practices through code reviews, mentorship, and hands-on development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners including product and data teams.
- Gain exposure to modern engineering tools and platforms such as Python, JavaScript, React, AWS, Spark, and Snowflake.
