Role Profile
The School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering is seeking to appoint a Technical Officer / Senior Technical Officer to underpin automation and robotics activities in the School while also enhancing and developing digital manufacturing. The role will include provision of technical support for the Industry Robotics laboratory in the new Polaris building.
The successful candidate will join a team of Technical Officers with responsibility for support of experimental equipment and laboratories in the School. The successful candidate will have excellent technical, communication and interpersonal skills, a flexible approach to work and a willingness to assist with new developments in line with Faculty/University Strategy.
Our technical staff support undergraduate, taught postgraduate and research students through the deployment and enhancement of our laboratory infrastructure, and technical support for standard and specialised experiments and through contributions to the wider activities of the School. The team is instrumental in supporting capstone projects, curriculum redevelopment, student research activity and outreach programmes. The team also periodically supports relevant needs across Faculty/University.
The appointee will have a role in mentoring, training and the support of teaching related to automation and robotics, design and CAD, projects, creativity and innovation and student demonstrations. The successful candidate will also contribute to redevelopment of technical content within programmes, offering advice on advanced manufacturing systems, advanced measurement methods and innovative manufacturing. They will be expected to contribute directly to instruction and training, supervision of Project sessions, student mentoring and advice related to capstone projects.

Salary Scale:
Technical Officer / Senior Technical Officer - €41,736 - €72,655

for the applicable payscale.
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.
