About the Site 

 

St. James's Gate Brewery in Dublin is Diageo's largest manufacturing facility in Ireland, and the largest stout brewery in the world. It produces over three million pints of Guinness every day, supplying a growing Irish, UK and US market, and exports to 90 global markets. Our main beer brands are Guinness, Guiness 0.0,  Rockshore, Hop House 13, Smithwick's and Harp. The brewery produces multiple SKUs which are either kegged on site or transported in bulk tankers to packaging sites in Runcorn and Belfast. 

 

 

About the Role 

 

Joining the world-famous St James Gate Brewery and reporting to the Beer Governance Manager, the Health & Safety Manager leads, develops and maintains a robust health and safety management system. You will provide professional H&S leadership across site operations, and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards and company requirements, while actively promoting a strong safety culture. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

 

  • Drive H&S and risk reduction strategies that engages the site operational teams in the delivery of our goals.  

  • Develop and maintain the H&S management system to maintain ISO external accreditation. 

  • Ensuring compliance to all external regulatory requirements and fulfilling 100% of the Diageo Global Risk Management Standards.  

  • Promote a mentality of H&S compliance, with solid H&S engagement strategies. 

  • Report key H&S metrics in line with regulatory and Diageo data governance requirements 

  • Develop or oversee emergency response plans, safe operating procedures and safety critical equipment assurance. 

  • Lead the site H&S committee, embedding a culture of continuous improvement in H&S performance across all operational and contractor stakeholders 

 

 

About You     

 

This role requires a proactive approach and being a good communicator is critical. In addition, you’ll be able to demonstrate the following: 

 

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a H&S role from a high-risk or manufacturing environment. 

  • Ability to build a high-performance climate by effectively setting performance standards and coaching and developing others to achieve them. 

  • A Degree or equivalent in a H&S subject area 

  • Advanced knowledge of H&S legislation, policies, roles and responsibilities. 

  • Strong capability in hazard identification, incident investigation, inspection processes and risk assessment. 

  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene, ergonomic assessment and environmental hazards. 

  • Apply structured methodologies (RCPS, PDCA, DMAIC, Six Sigma, DOE) to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
