Residency in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia

Location: VetAgro Sup - Veterinary School of Lyon, France

Duration: 3 years

VetAgro Sup - Veterinary School of Lyon (France) invites applications for a Residency Position in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia, commencing on 1st of September 2026.

This is a 3-year standard residency programme, designed to offer to the successful candidate the opportunity to gain expertise and clinical skills in veterinary anaesthesia and analgesia.

A majority of the programme, 75% of time (37 weeks per annum) for each of the 3 years, will be spent on clinical rotations in small and large animal anaesthesia on site. The resident will also be involved in emergency duties and clinical teaching of veterinary students.

The other portion of the programme, 25% of time (15 weeks per annum), will be allocated for personal study, research, CPD (7w), attending conferences (1w), externships (2w), and holidays (5w). The resident will have to complete at least one research project and write up at least two papers to be submitted in a peer-reviewed journal before completion of the residency.

Applicants must have a veterinary degree and be licensed to practice veterinary medicine and surgery in Europe, and have graduated for at least four years from an institution approved by the European Association of Veterinary Education Establishments (EAEVE). They must have followed a pre-residency program that consists of at least 1-year rotating internship or a minimum of 2 years in general practice. A good level of French is desirable.

This residency programme runs over three years (2026-2029) and will start the 1st of September 2026. The contract will be renewed each year based on satisfactory completion of the previous year.
