Residency position

Location: University of Ghent, Belgium

Duration: 3 years

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Ghent University offers one position for a standard residency in Veterinary Anaesthesia & Analgesia (Supervisors: Stijn Schauvliege, Dipl. ECVAA and Patricia de la Paz Ruíz López, Dipl. ECVAA).

Start: 01/03/2026

Applicants are expected to have substantial experience in clinical veterinary medicine, preferentially in both large and small animals. The minimum requirement is a successfully completed rotating internship of at least 12 months duration or an equivalent experience, before the scheduled start of the residency. A special interest in and knowledge of basic physics and physiology are an advantage. Further, candidates are expected to function well in a team. They need to have good knowledge of English to pass the certifying exam. Knowledge of Dutch and French at the beginning of the residency is desirable for proper communication with clients and the team, though not essential.
