The Manager, Physical Security Systems is the dedicated technical owner of EdgeConneX's physical security systems portfolio across the global data center fleet. The role is accountable for the target architecture, the multi-year roadmap to scale, upgrade, or rebuild platforms, and the day-to-day operation of access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter systems. The Manager develops architecture recommendations, drives alignment with Security and IT leadership, manages primary vendor relationships, and delivers against the agreed plan in close partnership with Operations, IT, Security, and key stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead target-state architecture development for EdgeConneX physical security systems across the global fleet, including current-state assessment, target state, and the transition roadmap.
- Develop and drive the multi-year roadmap to scale, upgrade, or rebuild physical security systems platforms in support of business growth, in partnership with Security and IT leadership.
- Align physical security systems architecture and roadmap with EdgeConneX broader technology strategy.
- Operate and support physical security systems globally, including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, and perimeter systems.
- Serve as the deep technical subject-matter expert for LenelS2/OnGuard, ExacqVision, and adjacent platforms (e.g., Genetec where deployed) across the portfolio.
- Define and maintain technical standards, runbooks, and lifecycle plans for the portfolio.
- Manage primary security systems vendors and integrators, statements of work, performance, escalations, and contract renewals in partnership with Procurement and Legal.
- Coordinate with EdgeConneX IT on networking, server infrastructure, OS lifecycle, patching, and cybersecurity hardening for security systems.
- Partner with Security Operations and Security Design & Integration on installs, site turnover, and ongoing support of deployed systems.
- Track system health, drive continuous improvement, and report status and KPIs to Security leadership.
- Support internal and external security audits, evidence collection, reporting, and closure of findings.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to document architecture decisions, standards, and roadmaps clearly for executives, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architecture and multi-year roadmap development for security or critical infrastructure platforms, including balancing scale, upgrade, and rebuild approaches and driving delivery to closure.
- Deep hands-on expertise with enterprise physical security systems and the ability to act as the technical owner for the portfolio.
- Proven ability to prioritize and execute across a global, distributed portfolio with consistent attention to detail.
- Ability to set standards, drive accountability, and hold vendors and integrators to performance requirements and contracts.
- Strong follow-through: drives corrective actions to closure and prevents repeat issues.
- Confident working with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, in a fast-moving environment.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity, network, and IT infrastructure considerations relevant to physical security systems.
- Comfortable working independently across global time zones and shifting priorities in support of a multi-region deployment or footprint.
Experience/Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, information systems, security management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience managing or supporting enterprise physical security systems, including access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection, across multi-site or global environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading target architecture and multi-year roadmap development for enterprise physical security systems or comparable critical infrastructure platforms, with a track record of delivery against agreed plans.
- Familiarity with common industry hardware manufacturers (e.g., AXIS, HID) and deep hands-on expertise with enterprise physical security platforms including LenelS2/OnGuard and ExacqVision; familiarity with Genetec and adjacent platforms.
- Experience managing security systems vendors and integrators, statements of work, performance management, and contract renewals.
- Working knowledge of (or demonstrated ability to learn) EN 50600, PCI DSS, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.
- Proficiency with Visio, Lucidchart, AutoCAD, or comparable drawing and diagramming tools.
- Knowledge of, and experience supporting, security-related audits and certifications, including evidence collection and closure of findings.
- Experience in data centers, critical infrastructure, telecommunications, or other controlled environments strongly preferred.
