We are looking for a Thermal Engineer to join our growing team in Letterkenny. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative modular infrastructure projects supporting the Data Centre and Telecom sectors. You will be responsible for the thermal and mechanical design of customised modular solutions, ensuring reliable, efficient, and high-performance systems for some of the world's most critical applications.
About the Role
As a Thermal Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems within modular buildings, including heating, ventilation, cooling, plumbing, and fire suppression systems. Working closely with architectural, structural, electrical, manufacturing, and project delivery teams, you will support projects from concept and design through manufacturing, factory integration, commissioning, and customer handover.
This role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle and provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise within the fast-growing data centre industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of construction documentation and detailed design packages.
- Prepare manufacturing and technical documentation.
- Provide engineering support during module assembly and integration activities within the Letterkenny facility.
- Support service teams and subcontractors during project execution.
- Participate in constructability reviews and provide technical feedback to the design team.
- Collaborate with project management, quality, manufacturing, testing, and construction teams to successfully deliver projects.
- Manage construction administration deliverables, including:
- As-built documentation
- Installation manuals
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), including flushing and pressure testing activities
- Punch list support and close-out activities
- Collaborate with local service teams to improve project execution and implementation.
- Specify bills of materials and services required for project delivery.
- Coordinate with material suppliers and service providers throughout project execution.
- Provide engineering support during site construction, commissioning, and project handover activities.
- Support multiple concurrent projects while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process & Energy Engineering, Thermotechnics, Modelling & Simulation, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a similar engineering role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- English language proficiency at B2 level or above.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to engineering challenges.
Desirable
- Experience with Revit and Autodesk design tools.
- Experience within data centres, telecommunications, HVAC, building services, or modular construction environments.
- Knowledge of mechanical building systems, cooling technologies, plumbing systems, and fire suppression systems.
- Experience supporting factory integration, site commissioning, or construction activities.
