Job Description

Process Technician

Element Six is seeking to recruit a Process Technician to join the Element Six Grit and Micron Technical Team, reporting to the Technical Manager – Grit and Micron Products.

This role requires a high level of self-directed, autonomous work and is based onsite in Shannon. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly to meet business needs and may be required to travel occasionally (e.g., customer visits, supplier engagements, trade fairs). The role involves close collaboration within a cross-functional environment, working alongside colleagues in Product Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Production, as well as with teams across other Element Six locations, including the Global Innovation Centre (GIC).

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drive process and product development improvements for existing products in response to defined customer requirements.
  • Support the processing and production of new sample materials for customer evaluation, including management and tracking of sample activities within the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system.
  • Facilitate process transfer activities to introduce new commercial products into operations following successful application and field testing.
  • Lead the development of new product families, from initial sample manufacturing and characterisation through to production transfer. This includes Item Creation, Bills of Material (BoM), Quality requirements, and the development of procedures and process documentation, with a particular focus on fine micron and submicron products.
  • Engage directly with customers, including site visits as required, to support technical discussions related to products and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum NFQ Level 6, or NFQ Level 7 in Engineering, Quality, or a related discipline (or equivalent).
  • 2–3 years’ experience in a similar technical role, demonstrating capability in production development and process improvement.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office as well as ERP (e.g. JDE / SAP) applications, and the use of metrology and analytical equipment is required.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to grit and micron products would be advantageous.
  • Strong ability to make timely, data-driven decisions, with appropriate consideration of risk management.
  • Proven capability to compile, structure, and present professional technical reports drawing on information from multiple sources.
