Deputy Manager, Under 18s Residential, The Haven, South East
Location: Clonmel
Contract: Full-Time, Specific Purpose Contract
The purpose of this role is to provide short-term accommodation to young people, aged 15- 17, who have been displaced from their home.
What you will do:
Work within the overall objectives of Focus Ireland and under the supervision and direction of the Manager of The Haven.
Provide leadership, guidance, and direction to residential staff teams, promoting a positive and professional working environment.
Create and maintain a safe, caring, and stable environment for young people placed in the centre, promoting their rights and responsibilities.
As part of the management team, ensure the centre operates in line with Tusla policies, Child Care (Standards in Children’s Residential Centres) Regulations 1996, and HIQA National Standards (2018).
Ensure Care and Placement Plans are in place, agreed, implemented, and regularly monitored for all young people in the centre.
Consult and engage appropriately with young people, their families, centre staff, and relevant external stakeholders.
Provide regular supervision to staff and actively promote staff development, training, and reflective practice.
Implement, monitor, and review project and agency policies and procedures, including safeguarding, complaints, confidentiality, health and safety, housing, and HR policies.
Support the Manager with staff performance management, recruitment, supervision, training, and compliance with employment and health and safety legislation.
Assume the duties of the Manager in their absence to ensure the smooth and effective running of the project.
Coordinate referrals, allocation of case workers, maintain accurate records and statistical information, and prepare monthly and other required reports.
Manage financial systems, contribute to the annual budgeting process, participate in project reviews and evaluations, and implement service improvements.
Work collaboratively with external agencies, participate in on‑call systems, attend meetings and training, and undertake other reasonable duties assigned by senior management.
What you will need:
Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application will be necessary)
3 years’ experience at Social Care Leader and post qualification experience in Residential Child Care or related field.
A working knowledge of the impact of childhood adversity on adolescents.
Ability to manage and support customers in crisis who present with challenging behaviours based upon Focus Irelands values and principles of best practice.
Experience of working in partnership with multidisciplinary teams to holistically meet the needs of service users.
A working knowledge and understanding of therapeutic crisis intervention model.
A working knowledge and understanding of the HIQA National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres. (2018)
Supervisory experience.
