Project Worker, Cheid Cheam, Aftercare, Dublin

Location: Dublin

Contract: Full Time, Specific Purpose

The purpose of this role is to work as part of the Aftercare Team on a 7 day rota to provide care and support for the young people resident in the project as they prepare for independent living

What you will do:

  • To draw up suitable care plans to prepare and support each resident for independent living.

  • To support young people holistically, paying attention to their practical self-care needs, health, budgeting, and domestic skills.

  • To play a part in promoting and building the confidence and self-esteem of young people leaving care.

  • To advocate on behalf of residents for housing, social work, social welfare, education, training and legal rights.

  • To liaise with and make referrals to relevant outside agencies.

  • To provide individual support and key working to residents of the project.

  • To assist in the facilitation of group work sessions for residents of the project.

  • To work on a rota covering a 7 day rota.

  • To assist in maintaining a good standard of hygiene in the general upkeep of the project.

  • To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.

  • To maintain accurate case records and statistics.

  • To liaise with and inform the Project Leader, on a regular basis, of issues arising from work with individual cases.

  • To engage in supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Project Leader/Assistant Project Leader.

  • To participate in relevant training and development courses and in project evaluation.

  • To implement the existing policies and procedures of the project and of Focus Ireland and adhere to the Standards of Customer service.

What you will need:

  • Hold a  third level qualification in social care or a related field or CORU membership.

  • Extensive, relevant work experience working with young people in care or marginalised young people.

  • Experience of key-working clients or individual case-work.

  • Experience of managing challenging behaviour.

  • Good understanding of the issues affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare. (Desirable)

  • Understanding of Child Protection. (Desirable)
