Location: Dublin
Contract: Full Time, Specific Purpose
The purpose of this role is to work as part of the Aftercare Team on a 7 day rota to provide care and support for the young people resident in the project as they prepare for independent living
What you will do:
To draw up suitable care plans to prepare and support each resident for independent living.
To support young people holistically, paying attention to their practical self-care needs, health, budgeting, and domestic skills.
To play a part in promoting and building the confidence and self-esteem of young people leaving care.
To advocate on behalf of residents for housing, social work, social welfare, education, training and legal rights.
To liaise with and make referrals to relevant outside agencies.
To provide individual support and key working to residents of the project.
To assist in the facilitation of group work sessions for residents of the project.
To work on a rota covering a 7 day rota.
To assist in maintaining a good standard of hygiene in the general upkeep of the project.
To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Representative.
To maintain accurate case records and statistics.
To liaise with and inform the Project Leader, on a regular basis, of issues arising from work with individual cases.
To engage in supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Project Leader/Assistant Project Leader.
To participate in relevant training and development courses and in project evaluation.
To implement the existing policies and procedures of the project and of Focus Ireland and adhere to the Standards of Customer service.
What you will need:
Hold a third level qualification in social care or a related field or CORU membership.
Extensive, relevant work experience working with young people in care or marginalised young people.
Experience of key-working clients or individual case-work.
Experience of managing challenging behaviour.
Good understanding of the issues affecting young people leaving care and in aftercare. (Desirable)
Understanding of Child Protection. (Desirable)
