Job Description

Grant Thornton currently has an exciting opportunity within our Regulatory Risk Advisory team in our Advisory practice. Our team brings people from diverse backgrounds together with experience across prudential regulation, conduct risk, compliance and governance and is made up of ex-regulators, compliance professionals, auditors and lawyers.

The increased focus by European Regulators on banking and investment firm’s interpretation of prudential regulation, the quality of capital and liquidity processes and documentation, as well as the effectiveness of risk frameworks means firms are increasingly requiring assistance in adapting to the changing regulatory environment. We are looking for new talent to play a key role in taking our prudential regulatory offering to clients as we continue to build a team in the Irish market.

The Regulatory Risk Advisory team offers the following services to prospective clients across the Banking and Asset Management sectors:

  • Regulatory Compliance Advisory: Assisting institutions in interpreting and responding to evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Prudential Risk & Capital Management: Providing expert support on capital adequacy and prudential compliance to meet regulatory requirements and align with business strategy.
  • Governance, Risk & Strategy Framework: Building integrated, risk-aligned frameworks that enhance oversight, accountability and strategic decision-making.
  • Markets, Treasury & Liquidity Management: Advising on liquidity risk, treasury operations and balance sheet strategy, ensuring institutions are well-positioned for regulatory expectations, market risks and liquidity events.
  • Internal Audit & Assurance Services: Independent assurance and co-sourced support to strengthen internal audit effectiveness and deliver value-added insights.
  • Regulatory Reporting and Data Processing: Supporting accurate, timely and compliant regulatory reporting by improving governance, controls and data lineage across the reporting lifecycle.
  • Authorisations & Regulatory Support: Guide firms through the end-to-end regulatory lifecycle – from initial licensing to managing thematic reviews, inspections and skilled persons reviews.

The successful applicant will assist the Associate Directors and Managers in expanding our market offering, play a key role in strengthening our client relationships, and assist in the delivery of a range of interesting engagements.

Responsibilities

As an Assistant Manager within our Regulatory Risk Advisory Team, you will play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of client engagements, support business development efforts and contribute to the development of our people and capabilities.

  • Support Managers in leading and delivering high-quality engagements, acting as a key day-to-day contact for clients;
  • Build trusted relationships with client stakeholders through consistent communication, proactive issue resolution, and understanding their regulatory needs;
  • Take ownership of discrete workstreams, ensuring timelines, quality standards and client expectations are met.
  • Assist Managers/Associate Directors in developing go-to-market solutions and identifying opportunities to expand service offerings with existing and prospective clients;
  • Prepare reports and supporting documentation; making oral presentations of findings/recommendations to client management team(s);
  • Support technical analysis – being a 'subject matter expert' in aspects of European prudential regulation (CRR/CRD, BRRD, IFR/D);
  • Network with clients, prospective clients and internally across the firm;
  • Provide mentoring and coaching junior team members, providing guidance and feedback on technical areas, engagement delivery and career development; and
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial services (e.g. banking) or professional services;
  • Familiar in the prudential aspects of the European regime as it applies to banks and investment firms, regulatory reporting as well as elements of the broader ECB/SSM regime and requirements;
  • Leading teams in the delivery of their objectives;
  • Positive and proactive attitude, with the ability to adopt an agile approach;
  • An ability to foster trusted relationships;
  • Good written communication skills and attention to detail;
  • An ability to quickly learn new skills and knowledge on the job;
