Job Description
The role
The candidate will be reporting directly to the directors and partners in the business unit (BU). The candidate should have a strong background in the financial services industry and understand the challenges and trends which affect this sector. The candidate should be experienced in delivering projects regarding the achievement of operational excellence, transition management and remediation. This is a new role and the candidate would be expected to work under their own initiative and help drive the growth in the BU.
Detailed responsibilities
Business development/operational excellence requirements
The candidate would be expected to contribute to the development of the business as follows:
Providing input into the design and implementation of the business unit strategy;
Working with senior team members to determine the products and services to be delivered;
Helping to identify target market, a specific list of target entities and a go to market plan;
Introducing new or improved management information through the use of new BI tools or the introduction and monitoring of appropriate KPI's.
- Support the development of a product specifically designed to facilitate efficient and secure data migrations within the asset management sector, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and adherence to industry standards.
Technical requirements
This is also a technical role and a deep understanding of the fund accounting and general administration functions within the asset management sector would be expected.
Strong experience in the asset management space, particularly in fund administration;
Experience in a variety of funds types / structures such as mutual funds, UCITs, ICAVs, Private Equity and Private Credit structures, REITs, SPVs, Hedge Funds;
Experience in a variety of fund administration systems such as Geneva, Investran, Allvue, eFront, Multifonds, ideally including the ability to execute fund setups and have a strong grasp on the general technology landscape;
Ability to analyse client operational environments and offer process improvement and automation solutions;
Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem solve under pressure and adapt quickly to engagements within clients’ operating environments;
In depth understanding on complex calculations inherent in fund administration, eg: performance fee calculations, waterfall calculations, distribution calculations.
- Strong technical skills in data analytics, with hands-on experience using tools such as SQL, Python and Power BI (PBI) to support system implementations, data migrations and KPI reporting would be a distinct advantage.
- Familiarity with and a keen interest in modern automation and AI-driven solutions, such as CoPilot, PowerQuery, Power Automate, and Alteryx, to optimise data workflows and drive process improvements would be an advantage.
Engagement delivery
The candidate would be responsible for managing the delivery of a number of diverse engagements and would be required to carry out the following tasks:
Assisting in maintaining and developing key client relationships;
Assisting with the on-shoring or off-shoring of fund accounting and finance related processes.
Design and implementation of project plans;
Diagnosis, stabilisation and process redesign arising from critical business or P&L issues;
Ensuring completion of assignments within appropriate budget and timeframe;
- Leading data migration projects, ensuring transitions are seamless and minimally disruptive to business-as-usual activities;
- Proactively identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency; accuracy, and scalability within clients’ business units;
Maintaining a strong focus on effective change management;
Managing a team while on assignment;
Commercial / business awareness;
A passion for client service.
Experience, skills and attributes
Deep knowledge of financial services / asset management industry;
Appropriate professional qualification(s), which may be based in data analytics, finance/investments, accounting or another appropriate discipline;
Specific experience of having been part of large-scale projects in a multinational environment;
5 - 8 years relevant experience in fund accounting / fund administration / asset management;
- Proven track record in managing and executing data migrations within asset management environments.
- Hands-on experience with system implementations, including the integration and deployment of technology solutions in asset management.
- Ability to navigate and resolve challenges during system upgrades or transitions, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
Self-motivated and ability to work within a team;
Strong project management skills;
Strong communicator, highly articulate with good report writing and excel skills;
Mature and confident person with excellent interpersonal skills, particularly communication skills with the ability to mentor junior staff and impart technical knowledge;
A self-starter with an ability to work on their own initiative, but knowing when to seek assistance and work collaboratively;
Energy, enthusiasm and passion for a new challenge.
