About the Team:
Within Grant Thornton's Incentives group, the Research & Development ("R&D") Tax credit and grant services team brings together tax professionals and engineering / scientific experts who support a broad spectrum of prominent clients. The team's reputation continues to grow, partnering with forward-thinking organisations engaged in R&D activities in Ireland, as well as those planning future investments in innovation.

Role Overview:
This position is ideal for a driven scientific, engineering, or computer science graduate with experience in the R&D tax credit and grant incentives space who is eager to join Grant Thornton's expanding R&D Incentives practice. We are seeking a Director with substantial experience to help shape the direction of our national team. The role offers the chance to play a key part in the development and success of our business.

Key Duties:

  • Collaborate directly with clients from various industries, using your expertise to assess the eligibility of R&D project activities for tax relief under Irish legislation and Revenue guidance.
  • Deliver clear, high-quality advice and solutions, always mindful of risk and the firm's reputation.
  • Oversee multiple client engagements, delegate tasks, and review outputs from colleagues.
  • Contribute to business growth by preparing and presenting proposals to prospective clients.
  • Develop project budgets and schedules that maximise efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage a diverse client portfolio, ensuring that quality standards and risk controls are consistently maintained.
  • Take a leadership role or work collaboratively within project teams, demonstrating excellent communication and fostering effective teamwork across disciplines.

Candidate Profile:

  • Scientific / engineering / computer science qualified or experienced.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of R&D tax credits, with at least 5 years experience.
  • Exceptional skills in report writing, communication, interviewing, and presenting.
  • Proven ability in this space, with a track record of team and project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong client relationships.
  • Experience in a professional services environment is highly desirable.
