We're looking for an Arborist to join Ground Control to work across East/Northeast Ireland, supporting vegetation management around electricity networks. You'll work as part of a team to maintain safe clearances around overhead power lines, helping protect the network and keep electricity flowing to local communities.

Whether you're experienced in utility arboriculture or have a strong background in tree work and are looking to develop your skills in this specialist area, this is an opportunity to join a supportive team delivering essential work.

Why this role?

Make a difference every day

Your work will help maintain safe vegetation clearances around overhead power lines, supporting the reliable operation of electricity networks and helping keep the lights on.

Work as part of a skilled team

You'll work alongside experienced colleagues, sharing knowledge and supporting one another to deliver safe, high-quality arboricultural work.

Develop your skills

Build on your existing arboricultural experience, develop your utility knowledge and access opportunities for further training and development.

What you'll do:

  • Carry out tree work and vegetation clearance around overhead electricity infrastructure, following the required specifications and safe working procedures.

  • Undertake climbing, pruning, felling and aerial tree work in line with your qualifications, experience and role requirements.

  • Operate chainsaws and arboricultural equipment safely, including woodchippers and other relevant machinery where trained and authorised.

  • Assess site conditions and identify hazards, helping protect colleagues, the public, property and the electricity network.

  • Follow work instructions, maps and risk assessments to ensure tasks are completed safely and efficiently.

  • Maintain equipment and work areas, reporting defects and ensuring tools and machinery are kept in good condition.

  • Work closely with your team and supervisor, communicating effectively and supporting the successful delivery of the work programme.

  • Follow all relevant health and safety requirements, company procedures and utility industry standards.

What we're looking for:

  • Relevant arboricultural qualifications, including chainsaw, tree climbing and aerial rescue qualifications appropriate to the work undertaken.

  • Practical experience in arboriculture, including tree maintenance, pruning, felling or climbing.

  • A strong commitment to health and safety, with the ability to follow safe working procedures and risk assessments.

  • Good teamwork and communication skills, with a reliable, positive and professional approach.

  • The physical fitness required for outdoor, practical work, often in changing weather conditions.

  • A proactive attitude, with the ability to follow instructions, solve problems and adapt to changing site conditions.

Desirable:

  • Experience in utility arboriculture or vegetation management around overhead power lines.

  • Knowledge of working safely around electricity infrastructure, with relevant training where required.

  • Emergency first aid training.

  • A valid driving licence appropriate to the role and operational requirements.

  • Additional arboricultural equipment or machinery qualifications.
