About the Role:

We are looking for Electrical Engineers to join our expanding Engineering team and become a driving force behind our high‑voltage projects. You will be part of a multidisciplinary design team supporting a wide range of Transmission & Distribution projects both in Ireland and internationally.

This role offers significant variety, ownership, and opportunities for travel. You will visit client sites to independently discuss, define, and verify technical requirements, translating these into high‑quality proposals, reports, and design deliverables.

The Electrical Engineer will take responsibility for key elements of design delivery across one or more projects that may be running concurrently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsibility for the production of electrical engineering on assigned projects.
  • Work closely with the civil designer to ensure civil aspects meet electrical equipment requirements.
  • Act as the single point of contact (SPOC) with the Utility provider and the client’s Owner’s Engineer.
  • Manage electrical and civil design logs from the Utility provider and the client’s Owner’s Engineer.
  • Manage design pack submittals to the Utility provider and the client’s Owner’s Engineer.
  • Assist in preparing procurement specifications for main primary plant, including: HV power transformersHV circuit breakersHV switchgearNeutral Earthing Resistors (NERs)
  • Review supplier documents and schematics to ensure compliance with technical and functional specifications.
  • Prepare physical HV layouts, electrical systems, secondary control and protection systems, and single line diagrams.
  • Prepare HV system studies including protection coordination, voltage regulation, load flow and fault level reports.
  • Attend meetings with the Utility provider and the client’s Owner’s Engineer as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role within an HV contracting or utility environment.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proficient in electrical design software including ETAP, EPLAN, AutoCAD, Cymcap, Autodesk, and Advanced Steel.
  •  Demonstrated experience in people management and effective team leadership.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
  • A proactive, team‑oriented approach with strong initiative.
  • On‑site commissioning experience is highly desirable.
