About the IRC

Huawei Ireland Research Centre's (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognised technology leader and global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. To achieve this, we are building an industry-recognised multi-disciplinary Research Centre of experts focusing on medium-term to long-term issues. The IRC will work closely with an open, innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.

About the Job

We are looking for a motivated and analytical Data Scientist to join our team, focusing on the development and optimization of our advertising bidding systems. In this role, you will bridge the gap between our local needs and the state-of-the-art technologies from Huawei HQ. You will be responsible for analyzing bidding performance, implementing algorithmic refinements, and ensuring seamless communication with our global engineering and data science teams to maintain version consistency and technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Algorithm development and implementation: Assist with the implementation and fine-tuning of bidding strategies across core ad exchange capabilities.

• Data engineering: Work with large-scale datasets to extract meaningful insights and features for model training.

• Data Analysis & Insights: Deep dive into large-scale advertising data to identify performance bottlenecks and provide actionable insights to improve strategy.

• Cross-Border Collaboration: Act as a key technical liaison with Huawei HQ. Translate global algorithm updates into local implementations and ensure regional alignment.

• Model Validation & Testing: Conduct A/B testing and offline simulations to evaluate the impact of new features or algorithm changes.

Requirements

• Technical Foundation: Solid understanding of data structures, statistics, and core machine learning techniques (Supervised/Unsupervised learning). Experience with Reinforcement Learning is a strong plus.

• Programming Proficiency: Professional experience in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch/TensorFlow).

• Big Data Skills: Familiarity with processing large datasets using tools like Spark, Hadoop, or SQL.

• Problem-Solving: Ability to break down business requirements into clear data science tasks and deliver effective solutions.

• Communication & Language (Mandatory): Fluency in Mandarin (written and verbal) to collaborate effectively with HQ.

• Strong ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience: a minimum of 1-3 years, or more, of experience (industrial/academic) in Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field (AdTech experience is a significant advantage).
