Your impact

As an Overhead Line Equipment (OLE) Lead for Ireland and Northern Ireland, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering safe, efficient and innovative electrification solutions for our clients. Based locally to support strong face‑to‑face engagement, you will lead and oversee OLE engineering activities across a range of projects — from concept through to construction.

You will act as OLE CRE, Senior Project Engineer or Project Engineer as required, taking responsibility for high‑quality technical outputs including OLE layout plans, allocations, cross sections, isolation diagram updates, bonding designs, reports and calculations.

You’ll manage OLE design and construction elements to ensure compliance with current standards and legislation, while driving a right‑first‑time culture and promoting technical excellence across the discipline. A key part of your impact will be establishing and leading our Ireland/Northern Ireland OLE team, supporting and developing colleagues, and engaging confidently with clients at all levels.

You will also contribute to the development of innovative solutions, help shape best practice within the discipline, and support the continued growth of Jacobs’ electrification capability across the region.


Here's what you'll need
  • Degree/HNC or equivalent relevant experience; previous Design CRE experience; excellent communication skills.
  • Degree/HNC or equivalent relevant experience; previous Design CRE experience; excellent communication skills.
  • Proven experience in OLE design, ideally within Ireland.
  • Ability to act as CRE (Contractors Responsible Engineer), SPE (Senior Project Engineer), or PE (Project Engineer) as required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
  • Confident presenting and discussing designs with clients and stakeholders (IDCs, Progressive Design Reviews).
  • Experience with OLE ranges including OLEMI, UKMS, Mk3B, ATF, UK1.
  • Strong written skills with the ability to produce structured technical reports.
  • Familiarity with isolation/section diagrams and update processes.
  • Understanding of earthing & bonding requirements for electrification.
  • Customer‑focused with strong delivery discipline.
  • Desire and ability to mentor junior team members.
  • Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and ProjectWise.
  • BIM knowledge and MicroStation capability (desirable).
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing innovation within OLE design
