Principal OT Cyber Security Engineer – Ireland

We are seeking an experienced Principal OT Cyber Security Engineer to join our expanding Cyber Security team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high‑impact projects across a diverse client portfolio, including Critical National Infrastructure sectors such as Rail, Aviation, Highways, Water, Energy, Power, and Defence.

In this senior role, you will lead activities across the full lifecycle of OT (Operational Technology) security engineering, from design and development to integration, testing, assurance, and in‑service support. You will act as a trusted technical expert, guiding stakeholders, shaping solutions, and supporting business growth.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

Lead the design, integration, and security testing of OT cybersecurity solutions.
Develop OT and ICS cybersecurity assessment methodologies and define security requirements for complex environments.
Implement robust security risk management processes, including participation in accreditation activities with clients and regulatory bodies.
Conduct comprehensive security reviews, audits, and technical assessments of OT systems.

Governance, Assurance & Advisory

Provide expert-level OT cybersecurity governance, technical advice, and assurance to internal and external stakeholders.
Maintain deep knowledge of relevant OT security standards, regulations, and emerging threats (e.g., IEC 62443, NIS2, ISO/IEC 27019).

Business Development

Contribute to or lead business development initiatives, including proposal writing, solution shaping, and technical input to bids.
Represent the organisation in client meetings, technical workshops, and industry forums.

Here's what you'll need

We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate a strong blend of the following skills, experience, and attributes suitable for a Principal‑level position:

Extensive experience in OT cybersecurity, ideally gained within Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) or other industrial and operational environments.
Strong understanding of OT/ICS technologies commonly used across CNI sectors, such as SCADA, DCS, PLCs, RTUs, industrial networking, and safety systems.
Hands‑on experience with security engineering technologies across both IT and OT networks (e.g., endpoint protection tools, firewalls, intrusion detection systems).
Familiarity with key standards, frameworks, and regulations, including IEC 62443, NIST CSF, the ISO 27000 series, MITRE ATT&CK, and NIS/NIS2.
Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to articulate threat‑based and risk‑informed security considerations in clear business terms, enabling risk owners to make proportionate and well‑informed decisions.
Understanding of core design principles related to operational safety, reliability, resilience, and secure system lifecycle management.
Awareness of cloud and edge technology integration within OT environments.
