Your impact

As our Rail Civils Lead, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering railway civils projects across Ireland. Reporting to the Rail Civils Head of Profession, you will ensure technical excellence, safe and effective project delivery, and the development of innovative solutions for our clients’ most complex challenges.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead rail civils engineering activities across allocated projects, ensuring safe, sustainable, and cost‑effective outcomes.
  • Oversee internal teams, contractors, designers, and specialist personnel to ensure appropriate competency and high‑quality delivery.
  • Manage design and construction elements in line with relevant legislation, including CDM and CSM‑RA regulations.
  • Provide expert advice on construction activities, testing, commissioning, and site supervision.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence with a right‑first‑time mindset.
  • Monitor performance of design partners, specialist consultants, and contractors.
  • Support the development of innovative engineering solutions and best‑practice sharing across project teams.
  • Contribute to the recruitment and growth of the rail civils capability in Ireland.
  • Collaborate with UK and wider global teams to support integrated delivery and cross‑regional rail civils projects.

  • Recognised industry specialist in rail civils or related technical discipline

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree, HNC, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Rail civils or relevant engineering experience
  • Experience in people leadership and client‑facing delivery roles
  • Strong understanding of Irish Rail civil engineering standards and codes
  • Competency in CDM, CSM‑RA, engineering management, risk assessment
  • Knowledge of quality assurance processes
  • Understanding of independent assessment arrangements
  • Experience of rail civils project development, approval processes, and deliverables


Qualifications & Experience

  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body
  • Experience contributing to or structuring safety cases
  • Understanding of environmental considerations within engineering projects
  • Project safety management experience
  • Knowledge of Civils 3D and Bentley MicroStation
