Your impact

Jacobs is expanding its Life Sciences Engineering team in Ireland and is seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support major pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical projects. This role will be based in Dublin and will involve collaboration with clients and project teams across Ireland and Europe.


About the Role

As a Senior I&C Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high quality design solutions for complex, fast paced pharma projects. You will lead technical activities, support project delivery, and contribute to the development of future project opportunities within Jacobs’ growing portfolio.


Key Responsibilities


Technical Leadership

  • Lead I&C design activities on multidisciplinary pharma and biopharma projects.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers.
  • Ensure all design work aligns with project requirements, industry standards, and regulatory expectations.


Client & Project Interface

  • Attend client meetings and workshops to define, refine, and develop project scope.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams.


Design Development

  • Prepare Basis of Design (BOD) documentation
  • Develop Detailed Design packages and construction documentation for BMS and I&C contractors/System Integrators.
  • Support commissioning, FAT/SAT activities, and technical queries during construction as required.

Here's what you'll need
  • Bachelor’s or master’s Degree in an engineering discipline
  • Approximately 8 years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls engineering.
  • Strong background in pharmaceutical project delivery.
  • Proven experience with Building Management Systems (BMS), HVAC automation, and process instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with GxP environments, cleanroom systems, and regulated industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
