Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes.

The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes, and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.

We are searching for the best talent for the Calibration Technician role to be located in Cork, Ireland.

As part of the Engineering team, The Calibration Technician ensures that all equipment is accurately calibrated and meets required standards. The role involves completing onsite calibrations, supporting daily operations, and working with value streams and project teams. It requires flexibility, strong teamwork, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.

As a Calibration Technician, you will:

  • Execute all calibrations on site, including oversight of calibration vendors.

  • Be aware of the required technical standards regarding the calibration.

  • Continually monitor effectiveness of the calibration system and support positive Calibration Department metrics.

  • To be competent in delivering the requirements of the Calibration Standard Operating Procedure.

  • To represent the calibration department within value streams

  • To ensure you are continually upskilling on key calibration procedures and equipment

  • Be flexible with the day to day schedule to accommodate urgent calibration requests

  • Be aware of the “State of the Art” equipment used in the manufacture and inspection of J&J products.

  • Engage with Value Streams, NPI, and Project teams as necessary on calibration related requirements

HS&E

  • Actively promote a safety culture.

  • All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.

  • Manage contractors / vendors working on site to ensure full compliance with site safety requirements.

  • Support day to day operations through attendance at pulse walks and the timely closure of actions across the calibration team.

  • Be a good team player/flexible

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Level 6 certificate or higher in an Engineering background, preferably in instrumentation and /or Mechanical Engineering

  • Understanding of requirements for calibrating to National / International standards

  • Computer Literacy – Word, Excel, eCMMS systems, etc.

  • Ability to manage multiple assignments or projects with sound analytical skills.

  • Strong influencing skills.

  • Has drive, energy and enthusiasm for delivering to commitments.

  • Excellent planning & organization skills with an attention for detail.

  • Extent of confidentiality - discretion is essential in view of contact with outside parties, product development strategies, regulatory and sales information.

The anticipated base pay range for this position is €42,400 to €67,965.

In addition to base pay, we offer the following benefits*: an annual bonus with set target (9% of pay) depending on pay grade / location, where the actual amount is based on the employees’ and companies’ performance of the previous calendar year, or sales commissions.
