Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals.

We are searching for the best talent for the CNC Maintenance Specialist position to be in Ringaskiddy, Cork.
As part of the Maintenance Team, The CNC Maintenance Specialist ensures peak reliability and uptime of DMG Mori and Mazak CNC machines. Requires OEM‑level maintenance expertise, advanced troubleshooting, and hands‑on technician training. Drives continuous improvement, reduces unplanned downtime, and optimizes machine performance site‑wide.
As a CNC Maintenance Specialist, you will:
CNC Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-system diagnostics and repairs on DMG Mori and Mazak CNC equipment.
Complete preventive and predictive maintenance activities to OEM standards.
Lead complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis for recurring or high-impact CNC issues.
Reliability Management
Develop and execute CNC reliability improvement plans to increase OEE, MTBF, and machine uptime.
Conduct detailed failure analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
Identify component or system weaknesses and lead reliability upgrades or modifications.
Training & Knowledge Transfer
Deliver structured technical training for maintenance technicians and apprentices.
Create job aids, troubleshooting guides, and standard work instructions to elevate team capability.
Support competency development programs ensuring technicians achieve defined maintenance skill levels.
Continuous Improvement
Implement Lean and TPM methodologies to optimize CNC asset health and maintenance processes.
Proactively identify opportunities to reduce unplanned downtime and maintenance cost.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate maintenance records, service reports, and machine histories.
Ensure all work complies with site safety procedures and industry standards.
Liaise with OEM service teams and external vendors when necessary.
Qualifications / Requirements:
Level 6 Trade/Craft qualification with 5+ years’ CNC maintenance experience, ideally on DMG Mori or Mazak.
Strong multi‑discipline troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, PLC, servo, and spindle systems.
Solid knowledge of CNC control systems (MAPPS, FANUC, Mazatrol).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
Proven ability to train and support maintenance technicians.
Continuous improvement mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
High sense of ownership, urgency, and ability to work independently or cross‑functionally.
