Senior Project Engineer

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for leading and coordinating the entire project lifecycle from initiation through planning, execution, commissioning, and close‑out. While not acting as the primary technical designer, this role ensures the successful integration of engineering, manufacturing, quality, and site activities, driving projects to completion safely, on time, and within budget. The Senior Project Engineer serves as the operational backbone of project delivery, ensuring smooth communication, risk management, commercial control, and high‑quality outcomes reporting project status to the Project Manager.

What you will do

  • Lead day-to-day project coordination across all lifecycle phases.
  • Oversee planning, scheduling, sequencing, and interfacing between internal teams and the client.
  • Manage project documentation, reporting, risk logs, and progress metrics.
  • Drive commercial awareness—tracking costs, managing variations, and supporting budget adherence.
  • Act as the primary operational point of contact for client, general contractor, and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet quality, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Identify and address issues early, escalating to the Project Manager as required.
  • Continuously refine project delivery processes and execution methodology.
  • Support commissioning readiness and close-out documentation, ensuring all lifecycle gates are completed correctly.
  • Guide junior project engineers in project administration and workflow management.

How you will do it

Accountable (Lead) for:

  • Coordinating and delivering all lifecycle stages: Initiation, Planning, Procurement coordination, Execution, QA/QC and site progress, Commissioning support
  • Handover and close-out
  • Managing project controls: schedules, deliverables, logistics, risk/RAID logs, and documentation.
  • Leading internal and client-facing coordination meetings.
  • Ensuring alignment across Engineering, Manufacturing, QA/QC, and Supply Chain.
  • Monitoring site progress, tracking delays, and ensuring accurate commercial records.
  • Preparing professional high-quality reports for senior management and client stakeholders.
  • Maintaining strong client relationships and clear communication channels.
  • Driving adherence to safety standards and site compliance requirements.

Shared Responsibility for:

  • Procurement support, supplier evaluation, and logistics coordination.
  • Supplier/subcontractor communication to ensure timely and quality deliverables.
  • Continuous improvement initiatives related to project workflows and documentation.
  • Mentoring junior Project Engineers and administrative staff.
  • Capturing lessons learned and supporting the improvement of project frameworks and templates.

Other areas of input:

  • Providing project-driven feedback on technical drawings and installation methodology.
  • Supporting commissioning planning and readiness reviews.

What we look for

  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services, or related).
  • Strong technical problem‑solving ability.
  • Demonstrated capability delivering high‑quality engineered solutions in demanding environments.
  • 5–7 years in a project engineering or site management role within manufacturing, construction, or a technical project delivery, experience managing activities on complex projects.
  • Additional project management or leadership training a plus
  • Strong competency in project planning, technical coordination, and cross‑functional leadership.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Project.
  • Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and technical documentation.
  • Proven ability to mentor and support junior team members.

Desirable

  • Experience with HVAC delivery or projects within data centre or industrial environments.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement or lean methodologies.
  • Ability to build team morale and lead through influence.
