What you will do
This is a phenomenal opportunity to join our Silent Aire team at Johnson Controls as a Senior Project Quantity Surveyor. This opportunity is of great importance. The Senior Project Quantity Surveyor will be a key member of the Project Management Office, responsible for delivering robust cost planning, pricing, and commercial management across a portfolio of new and existing projects.
This role will lead the development of RFQ (Request for Quotation) packs, support procurement activities, and ensure effective cost control throughout the project lifecycle. The position requires strong commercial acumen and experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects, with data centre and HVAC project exposure considered highly advantageous.
How you will do it
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and pricing models for new projects.
- Review and validate feasibility studies, cost plans, and business cases
- Provide early-stage cost advice to support PM decision making.
- Lead the preparation and issuance of RFQ packs, including scope documents, pricing schedules, and commercial terms
- Ensure RFQs are clear, comprehensive, and aligned with project requirements
- Manage the tender process from issuance through to evaluation
- Analyse contractor and supplier quotations, providing detailed commercial comparisons and recommendations
- Support contract award negotiations and supplier onboarding
Project Cost Management
- Monitor and control costs across live projects, ensuring adherence to approved budgets
- Track commitments, expenditures, and forecast final project costs
- Identify cost variances and implement corrective actions
- Produce regular cost reports, dashboards, and financial insights for stakeholders
Commercial & Contract Management
- Administer contracts, including managing variations, claims, and change events
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and internal governance standards
- Review and certify contractor valuations and payment applications
- Maintain robust change control procedures and cost impact assessments
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance teams
- Provide commercial input into project planning, scheduling, and risk assessments
- Support PMO governance by ensuring consistent cost reporting frameworks
- Present financial updates and insights to senior stakeholders
Risk & Value Management
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities across projects
- Quantify financial exposure and develop mitigation strategies
- Promote value engineering initiatives to optimise project delivery costs
- Ensure effective contingency management
What we look for
Essential
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or related discipline
- 7+ years’ relevant experience in quantity surveying or cost management
- Strong experience in both new project pricing and live project cost control
- Proven experience developing RFQ/tender packages and managing procurement processes
- Solid understanding of contract forms
- Advanced Excel and cost management system skills
- Strong commercial, analytical, and reporting capabilities
Desirable
- Experience in data centre, mission-critical, or HVAC/mechanical projects
- Professional accreditation (e.g., RICS, SCSI)
- Experience working within a PMO or portfolio delivery environment
- Familiarity with capital project governance frameworks
