Clerk of Works

Closing Date

The Clerk of Works is a key support position within the council. The current vacancy for Clerk of Works is within the Facilities Department.  The Clerk of Works will work under the direction and management of the Senior Executive Engineer/Executive Engineer or analogous grade or other employee designated by the Senior Executive Officer, Senior Engineer or Director of Services as appropriate.

Craftworker (Plumber)

Closing Date

The Plumber will work as part of a Housing/Facilities team / crew consisting of a Clerk of Works / Foreman and a General Operative and generally with the assistance and guidance of the Senior Executive Engineer / Executive Engineer. The Housing/Facilities team is tasked with repairing council owned houses/buildings reported to Housing/Facilities Departments. The plumber will also carry out other duties assigned by the Clerk of Works in relation to the operation and maintenance of council owned houses/buildings.

Assistant Planner - Rolling Competition

Closing Date

The Assistant Planner works as part of a multi-disciplinary team within Laois County Council’s Planning, Housing and Regeneration Directorates to deliver key local authority services, including forward planning, development management, planning enforcement and project-based areas.  

Assistant Engineer - Rolling Competition

Closing Date

The Assistant Engineer works as part of a multi-disciplinary team within one of the Council’s Directorates to deliver key local authority services which include social housing; transportation infrastructure; environmental protection; water, waste management, recreation and amenity provision and community development. 

Graduate Engineer 2yr FTC - Rolling Competition

Closing Date

The Graduate Engineer will be required to work as part of a team in the Council’s Housing Department, under the supervision and direction of the Senior Engineer or such a person as may be assigned from time to time by Laois County Council. He/she will be required at times to work on his/her own initiative, as circumstances demand, on a broad range of projects.

Executive Planner - Rolling Competition

Closing Date

This is a senior position within the Planning Department reporting to the Senior Planner and/or another employee nominated by the Chief Executive. The Executive Planner is responsible for managing elements of the Planning Department and providing a multiplicity of services to Local Authorities.
