Job Summary

It is desirable that candidates demonstrate through their application form and at the interview that he/she:
 

  • Ability to determine priorities and organise workloads in order to produce quality output within tight timeframes;
  • A proven ability to work under pressure and think laterally in dealing with a wide range of issues;
  • Have a good knowledge of construction and associated compliance.
  • Have a good knowledge of planning legislation.
  • Have a good knowledge of construction projects.
  • Have an ability to work alone, in an independent environment and without constant supervision.
  • Be capable of working within a multidisciplinary team;
  • Be capable of working on their own initiative.
  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Have good knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations, their implications for the organisation and the employee, and their application in the workplace.

Each candidate must, on the latest date for receipt of completed application forms:
 

  1. Hold a degree in Planning, Engineering or Architecture or an equivalent professional qualification
or
  1. Hold a National Certificate / National Diploma in Construction Studies or Civil Engineering issued by the National Council for Education Awards / Further education training Awards Council.
Or
  1. In the case of an office involving building construction work – as an alternative to the qualification at (a) – be a member of the institute of clerk of works in Ireland, or possess a full course certificate in building issued by the Technical Instruction branch of the Department of Education or a first class technological certificate (intermediate stage) or a technological certificate (advanced stage) issued by the Department of Education or have had satisfactory supervisory experience of building work, including road construction
      And
  1. Have an adequate knowledge of civil engineering works or of building construction.
  2. Be capable of writing clear and concise reports, keeping work records, measuring and recording on site, and reading drawings.
  3. Have a satisfactory knowledge of the surveying, levelling and setting out of works.

Applicants should at the date of application hold a full valid Irish /EU licence, for Class B vehicles, or a licence acceptable to NDLS for transfer to full Irish licence.
