Job Summary

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Character
Each candidate must be of good character.

Health
Each candidate must be in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.

Education, Experience etc.
Each candidate must be a full-time student (over the age of 18 before 1st June 2026) who are currently undertaking a third level course in Engineering, Business, Computing, Finance, Science, Arts or related disciplines.

Shortlisting
The Local Authority may decide, by reason of the number of persons seeking admission to the competition to carry out a short-listing procedure. The number of persons to be invited to interview shall be determined by the Local Authority. Shortlisting will be based on Application Form or interview or both.

Those who are employed to carry out environmental works with Kilkenny County Council will have duties that may include the following:

  1. Litter Picking
  2. Landscaping, Weeding, Maintenance of Flower Beds and Flower Displays
  3. Maintenance of Cemetery
  4. Any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor.


Personal Protection Clothing will be supplied. Appropriate Health & Safety training will be given.

Hours
Variable hours, Monday to Saturday between 8.00 a.m and 7.00 p.m. It may be necessary that the occasional Sunday be worked.

Rate of Pay
€14.15 per hour

  1. Flexi time is not applicable.
  2. Annual leave will be accrued and paid pro rata at the end of your contract.
