Advanced Specialist Pharmacist (ASP) Posts in the follow areas:
- Antimicrobial
- Neurology Stroke
- Oncology/Haematology
- Pharmacotherapy
Purpose of posts:
- Antimicrobial: Be part of the AMS Pharmacy Team to promote better antimicrobial usage.
- Neurology Stroke: To lead out on Pharmacy Neuro rehabilitation services. Build and maintain this service.
- Oncology/Haematology including Aseptic Compounding: To be a part of the Pharmacy Cancer Services Team
- Pharmacotherapy: To operate as a lead clinical ward based pharmacist who can build clinical services across a range of specialities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for pharmacy services in their speciality across the hospital, providing a high level of expertise, competence and performance.
- Lead on the implementation of hospital, regional and national initiatives/policies relating to their speciality within the organisation.
- Act as a professional resource in advising other pharmacists and health care professionals in their area of speciality.
- Demonstrate professional leadership within the area of speciality through effective communication with other clinical practitioners, motivation of staff and challenging barriers to change.
- Support programme of Medication Safety Quality Improvement Plans.
- Engage with and support regulatory compliance.
- Delivery of education.
- Communications relating to pharmacy services within their area of speciality.
- Development and maintenance of guidelines, posters, policies relating to their area or speciality.
- Maintenance and development of KPIs.
- Manage Pharmacy staff relating to their area of speciality and other aspects of Pharmacy as required.
- Rotate into all other duties of the Pharmacy Department as required by the needs of the department.
- Maintain competency in other pharmacy areas which must include dispensary.
- Participate in weekend pharmacy rosters.
- Rotate into other Pharmacy Services as per the needs of the Department.
- Deputise on behalf of Chief II Pharmacist if and when required.
Eligibility Criteria - Qualifications and Experience. Candidates must:
- Be a registered Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (PSI) or be entitled to be so registered.
- Possess a high standard of administrative, managerial, or business ability.
- (i) Possess a Level 9 or higher post registration, postgraduate qualification on the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) maintained by Quality and Qualifications Ireland, in an area relevant to the role or possess a relevant qualification at least equivalent.
- (ii) 4 years post registration hospital experience, of which at least 2 years must be in the relevant specialty demonstrating the required level of specialist practice.
- (iii) A minimum of 0.5 WTE must have been in the specialist area for the duration of this time.
OR
- (i) Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) including relevant courses in an area relevant to the role.
- (ii) 5 years post registration hospital experience of which at least 3 years must be in the relevant specialty demonstrating the required level of specialist practice.
- (iii) A minimum of 0.5 WTE must have been in the specialist area for the duration of this time.
