SUMMARY OF DUTIES

As a Procurement Agent II, you will play a pivotal role within our supply chain team. In this job, you will be responsible for the purchasing of materials required to support our Production function for our manufacturing site in Galway. You will lead inventory & operational planning cycles and collaborate with teams globally to drive strategic decisions.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
- Action and review MRP messages, place orders with vendors for supply of direct materials to support and meet operational requirements.
- Coordinate shortages and expedite activities with suppliers as required.
- Be the point of escalation for Work Experience Procurement Agent/Procurement Agent I.
- Report and escalate to Planners/relevant stakeholders on material risks, stockouts and shortages.
- Ensure corrective actions are in place as part of root cause analysis.
- Maintain System parameters accuracy (lead times, pricing, commit dates, supplier details).
- Evaluate inventory and planned order requirements, make recommendations to achieve inventory objectives and drive actions to improve Inventory Health.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, negotiate direct/indirect agreements with suppliers, obtain competitive quotes.
- Identify, initiate, and lead cost saving and process improvement projects to enhance supply chain performance, review and update procedures where required.
- Conduct scorecard reviews to manage suppliers’ performance, create action plans for improvement when required, assist supplier selection and set-up.
- Work closely with Supplier Quality, Quality, Engineering and Global Sourcing teams to support existing and new product requirements.
- Support Organization’s Goals and Objectives, monitor KPIs, provide monthly and ad-hoc purchasing reports to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with Merit QMS.
Qualification/Experiences:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Materials Management, Supply Chain Management or relevant discipline, certification in APICS and Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) buying experience a distinct advantage.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in procurement within the Medical and Manufacturing industry sectors with exposure to supplier management, inventory management, continuous improvement and cost saving strategies.
- Good negotiation & problem-solving skills, strong analytical thinker.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Capability to work effectively as part of a team and cross-train as required.
- Works with a sense of urgency and attention to detail always.
- High level of IT skills, especially Excel.
