Meta is seeking an Indirect Tax Consulting Manager to provide strategic indirect tax advisory and consulting support for our Reality Labs (Quest/Ray-Bans Meta - hardware) and Commerce/Marketplace business initiatives. You will also support the EMEA Infrastructure lead.
The Indirect Tax Manager role is critical to the success of the Tax Department and will support the rapid growth of our business in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (“EMEA”) region.
As the Indirect Tax Consulting Manager, you will be a key internal advisor, responsible for providing proactive and strategic indirect tax consulting services. You will directly support our Reality Labs, particularly hardware initiatives (Quest/Ray-Bans Meta), and extend your expertise to our Commerce business. This role will involve working closely with various cross-functional teams, including Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance, as well as collaborating with the Indirect Tax Business and Compliance teams.
This role will not involve managing compliance.
Indirect Tax Manager, EMEA Responsibilities
- Provide strategic indirect tax consulting and advisory support across Meta's Reality Labs (Quest/Ray-Bans Meta - hardware) and Commerce/Marketplace business initiatives
- Advise on the indirect tax implications of new product development and business model changes for Reality Labs hardware and Commerce from conception to launch, including physical products and wearables
- Support our Infrastructure Indirect Tax lead
- Proactively identify and assess indirect tax risks and opportunities related to new product launches, business models, and operational changes within Reality Labs and Commerce
- Act as the primary indirect tax consultant for cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Legal, and Finance, providing clear, concise, and actionable indirect tax guidance
- Collaborate closely with the Indirect Tax Compliance team, providing insights from a consulting perspective and ensuring consulting advice considers compliance operationalization and reporting requirements
- Engage and manage external indirect tax advisors to obtain specialised advice as needed for complex consulting projects
- Present indirect tax implications and recommendations succinctly to various levels of management and cross-functional partners
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in indirect tax consulting, gained within a consulting firm, law firm, or a multinational (goods) corporation with a significant internal consulting function
- Proven communication skills to present indirect tax matters succinctly to management
- Evidence of analytical and strategic planning skills with the ability to translate complex tax rules into practical business solutions
- Experience in effectively influencing and communicating cross-functionally within the business
- Some international travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with indirect tax consulting projects involving global expansion, new product launches and cross border logistics - especially for goods with high manufacturing standards
- Demonstrated expertise in indirect tax matters relevant to hardware manufacturing and Commerce/Marketplace business initiatives
- Experience working within an AI-native environment and/or leveraging AI-supported workflows
