
Manager - Indirect Tax
Description
The Microsoft Tax & Customs Department is looking for a dynamic professional to be a part of our EMEA ANZ (Europe, Middle East & Africa; Australia & New Zealand) Indirect Tax team. This team is focused on business advisory, planning, reporting and compliance, including the technology and processes to support the co-ordination of the function. This role supports audit and stakeholder queries, monitors legislative and business changes impacting VAT, drives continuous improvement and standardisation of VAT compliance procedures, to ensure accurate and timely filings of Microsoft's indirect tax obligations.

Responsibilities
Indirect Tax Compliance and Reporting, including:
- Review and approve VAT filings, ensuring timely and accurate filings.
- Approve tax reporting rules/desk guides for outsourced compliance and in house VAT filings.
- Analyze tax metrics to identify and evaluate reporting fluctuations.
- Monitor VAT registrations.
- Monitor business and legislative changes impacting tax compliance.
- Support improvements and streamlining processes and procedures for VAT compliance.
- Analyze tax GL, reconciliations, and tax data to ensure integrity and accuracy of tax reporting.
- Provide data analysis and customer and audit support related to internal and external inquiries
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Tax, Law, or related field
- Multiple years of VAT compliance, tax returns and tax accounting experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven tax technical, analytical and organizational skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized and able to deliver on tight timelines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate complex analysis in a clear, simple way.
- Experience working with large data, strong data analytic skills.
- Ability to champion and implement process improvements.
- Highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrable problem-solving skills with experience exercising mature judgment and best practices.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Experience with SQL, Alteryx, Access, or Power BI is a plus.
- Relevant experience and knowledge of SAP, Vertex, and other tax/billing systems is a plus.
- Exceptional collaboration skills
